    Re: Daylight Savings Time???

    Yes.

P.S. -- It's daylight saving time. There should be a hyphen between daylight and saving but it's usually omitted. Saving is singular; it's an adjective, not a noun.

There should also be a hyphen between Star and Spangled but it's almost never written that way. To be correct, it should be daylight-saving time and Star-spangled Banner but you almost never see that.

Check out this thread from two years ago for an explanation of the new rules. We fall back on the first Sunday in November and spring forward on the second Sunday in March.

Good Grief! Just read that thread.
PS - Noted. Same thing with the use of the words 'anxious' & 'eager'.
    Thanx

Anxious is frequently misused to mean eager. Ignorant is frequently misused to mean stupid.

If you read the whole thread, then you read how to get your computer to display the correct time, assuming you're running a Microsoft OS.

We work 3 shifts at the FD, A, B, and C and each shift is 24 hours each.

I work the C shift (red), the X out dates are my off days.

    We work 24HRS, off 24HRS, work 24HRS, off 24HRS, work 24HRS, off 96HRS (4 days).

I rotates like this, say I work Monday/Wednesday/Friday. Then I am off Saturday/Sunday/Monday/Tuesday and return to work Wednesday/Friday/Sunday.

It comes out to 9 days a month, not including time off for Vacation and Holidays.

So the point of all this is that the shift that is working in the Spring for daylight saving time is ALWAYS working in the fall for it also. It falls that way every year just from the way we rotate.

So we do not get paid one hours of overtime in the fall, because we worked one hour less in the spring.

    Lucid,

What OS is your PC using?

There are software patches for the newer operating systems that take care of the daylight savings changes.

    Re: Daylight Savings Time???

Hey Scott, I am still using XPSP1 on this one. Sucks to try and do the windows update through dialup, might have to look just for that patch though. I am avoiding to DL anything over 5mb as the connection craps out at 99% lol.

    Eric,

Let me poke around at work next week and see what I have on CD.

I could drop a CD into the mail for you.

There was a separate patch for the DST issue, I just don’t remember what the minimum service patch level (required) was, before you could apply the DST patch.

That DST change was a really pain for companies that had lots of PC in their infrastructure. This included companies like BlackBerry that had to push the DST patch to all of their mobile devices.

I don’t think that congress understood the ramification of changing DST conventions has on a world with millions of PC devices, their real time clocks and time stamp dependent processes.

    Re: Daylight Savings Time???

Thanks Scott. I would think that I would need SP2, who knows it might work with SP1 as well. I wonder how long until Congress decides to change it back again?
