32 days until our trip to the Cook Islands!

I'm countin' em folks! Taking the whole family for 2 weeks of diving on the beautiful fringing coral reefs of Rarotonga!

I also found out some excellent news too. I found a website where I can get all the bookwork for SCUBA certification for only $26 dollars per person via online classes! This way, when we get to Rarotonga, we simply take the remainder 2 day class(mostly dive work) in the warm tropical waters of the South Pacific! Beats getting certified in Lake Tahoe(49 degree water....BRRRR). Dance of Joy! Dance of Joy!

The boys are extremely excited.

Ninong,

Absolutely! We're taking our digital, 2 35mm's, and one 35mm underwater cam w/ us. I'm so "jazzed". Last "real" vacation I had was about 5 years ago in Cozumel. We only snorkeled then. I read on a website that the Humpbacks should be migrated through the Cooks then too. I'm looking forward to diving out on the reef slope in hopes of seeing a Humpback or two.

Aragorn,

Could you please post a link to the website where you are doing the SCUBA bookwork. My wife and I are planning on getting certified and I would like to check it out. Have a great time on your trip. Take lots of pictures.

Asmith,

Here it is:

http://www.aquastrophics.com/corres.htm

I also called the guy who runs it. Says it takes usually 3-4 days at your leisure. Sounds like a deal.

Wg,

I did in fact confirm that we can get our passports expedited if we have an itinerary. We're all going down to the passport office in Reno next week w/ birth certificates, ID's, photos in hand and getting everything processed. Should take about 2 weeks. I am so looking forward to this. I put off setting up our 135g to pay for this trip "up front". It'll be nice to come back from vacation w/ no bills. We're taking about 4K w/ us to just SPEND! That can go prety fast w/ 5 of us diving though

Dan,

Yeah, one of the kids over at the LFS where Jemma works is going to be living at our house for the 2 weeks. He's 18, just graduated w/ high marks and is very responsible(at least at work and w/ school). I helped him w/ his Senior project involving Saltwater Aquaria and Natural Filtration(he got a 94%) and in return he's offered to watch all our critters. I'm pretty comfortable w/ the situation...He likes to "burn" but he's not an animal. I'll still worry though

Just to let you know if you have to have a last minute passport and not do the footwork yourself try Instant Passport they are an expediting service. web site is http://www.instantpassport.com/ I used them to get my passport in less than a weeks time when my sister had me booked on a last minute trip to Germany. They were very reassuring saying don't worry we have done this with less time for a customer.
