Talking Sarah Palin Quits as Governor of Alaska!!!

Sarah Palin Resigns Effective July 25

Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will be Alaska's new governor as of July 25 according to an announcement from Gov. Sarah Palin.

This is fantastic! It means we will have Sarah Palin 24/7 from coast to coast and sea to shining sea running for the 2012 Goppie nomination. I can't believe this is actually happening. I wonder if Joe the Plunger Plumber will join her campaign?

The rumor is that her baby's father was really Mark Sanford and he's about to confess.

P.S. -- I wonder if this will be the lead story on cable news channels? Nah! They're all on Michael Jackson 24/7 until after the pay-per-view funeral.

Re: Sarah Palin Quits as Governor of Alaska!!!

This is really a strange move. Apparently she thinks she can make a ton of money touring the country as a paid speaker. Either that or there is more dirty laundry soon to be exposed.

I don't think you quit your job as governor three and a half years before the next presidential election. That just doesn't make sense. Either she's broke and needs the money she thinks she can make as a paid entertainer professional speaker or some sh!t is about to hit the fan.

Maybe FOX News has offered her a job as a political analyst, sort of like Karl Rove?

P.S. -- I was just joking about Mark Sanford being her baby-daddy. It's really John Edwards.

Re: Sarah Palin Quits as Governor of Alaska!!!

Palin's resignation speech: I'm a celebrity, get me out of here!

MSNBC just played Sarah Palin's entire 18-minute speech announcing her resignation as governor of Alaska. This was the most ridiculous speech I have heard in a very long time. It's right up there with Mark Sanford's AP interview telling us all about the wonderful attributes of his "soul mate," who is not his wife; but he will try to fall in love with his wife again in spite of the fact that he has given his heart to a woman in Argentina, who remains his one true love. He described it as a "love story." But I digress.

Palin's speech was constantly interrupted by the sounds of wild geese or ducks or rabid pigeons in the background, at least that's what it sounded like. She went on and on rambling from one topic to another. Her breathless delivery was even more amateurish that Bobby Jindal's, if that's possible. She spoke entirely too fast.

She bragged about everything she has done for Alaska, including predator control (shooting wolves from planes), which she said has been attacked by out-of-state interests. She was proud that she rejected federal stimulus money ($29 million to help Alaskans weatherize their homes). She explained that "only dead fish go with the flow." That was a weird reference.

She went on and on for about 14 minutes before she even announced that she had decided not to run for re-election as governor of Alaska. Then a minute later she dropped the real bombshell. She will be turning over the reins of government to Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell because "every good point guard knows when it's time to pass the ball so that the team can win." I kid you not! She compared her resignation as governor of Alaska to her time as a point guard on the Wasilla High School girls' basketball team. Apparently the lesson she learned playing basketball in high school is that quitters win?!? Or is it that winners quit? Oh, wait, now I get it. Dead fish go with the flow and if she stayed on as governor she would be a dead fish. Pretty clever, right? Whatever.

She said she intended to devote her time to speaking out against big government and she didn't think it would be right that the people of Alaska should have to pay "millions of dollars" to cover her travel expenses while she runs around "defending our way of life." To say nothing of hundreds of thousands for a new wardrobe. Two or three times she used the phrase "people who love America" in reference to anyone who did not vote for the current administration.

I can't wait to see what a completely unrestrained Sarah Palin will be like. I'm sure there will be more than a little resemblance to Michele Bachmann and Katherine Harris, mixed in with a generous helping of Boss Limbaugh.

Re: Sarah Palin Quits as Governor of Alaska!!!

What's the Real Reason Palin Resigned?

Alaska bloggers are bringing up some very interesting observations. Some of them are speculating that Sarah Palin and her husband Todd are about to be indicted in a scheme similar to the one involving Ted Stevens. Remember last fall when we talked about the fact that the building supplies used to build Palin's new house on Lake Lucille came from SBS, the same contractor who helped build the $15 million Wasilla Sports Complex? Todd Palin told FOX News that he and his buddies built the new house. I guess it's just a coincidence that the windows and the wood and other building supplies just happened to be the same as those used on the Wasilla Sports Complex.

Anyway, this is not a new story. What is new, according to a couple of Alaska bloggers, is that the feds are about to charge the Palins with some sort of crime in connection with that little project. That could be nothing more than pure speculation because this story has been brewing for a very long time. Those same bloggers are insisting that Palin's decision to resign was very abrupt and not planned in advance. On Wednesday, July 1, Palin met with Alaska Senator Mark Begich to discuss funding for the missile-defense systems that would be stationed in Alaska. According to leaks from staffers involved in that meeting, she gave no indication whatsoever that she was about to resign as governor just two days later.

Some of what they are saying is really hard to believe. Not the part about the investigation into the building supplies but the part about her making the decision to resign at the very last minute and then deciding to get it out there before the July 4th weekend. One blogger insists that the only thing that had been in the works for the past few weeks was the possibility that she would not run for a second term as governor. That same blogger insists that her family didn't know she was resigning as governor until just before she made her announcement.

It won't take long for office personnel working in the lieutenant governor's office, or the office of the state's adjutant general, to start leaking the exact time that their boss was told he was about to be promoted. The state adjutant general is the guy who will be taking over as lieutenant governor. I forgot his name but he's the guy Palin promoted to lieutenant general a few months ago. That was weird. He's only a 3-star general in Alaska and only when commanding Alaska National Guard troops on state duty. His federal rank remains major general.

I smell a trainwreck coming down the track. Stay tuned.

Palin Quit in Response to a 'Higher Calling'

Governor Sarah Palin said the mean, biased, commie pinko liberal media just don't get it. She quit in mid-term to respond to a higher calling.
"How sad that Washington and the media will never understand; it's about country," the statement said. "And though it's honorable for countless others to leave their positions for a higher calling and without finishing a term, of course we know by now, for some reason a different standard applies for the decisions I make."

Palin's personal spokeswoman, Meghan Stapleton, confirmed to The Associated Press that the Facebook posting was written by the governor.
Who are these "countless others" who have quit their job as governor of a state in the middle of their first term in response to a "higher calling?" Usually it's in response to being caught in flagrante delicto with someone who is not their wife. How quickly they resign depends on a variety of factors, such as whether the person they were caught in bed with is of the same or opposite gender, a highly-paid hooker, or underage.

I can't think of "countless others" who have left their positions as governor of a state with 18 months remaining on their first term "in response to a higher calling." I think Sarah Palin, like Jeanne d'Arc, is hearing voices. She did say in her rambling announcement that she had made her decision after careful prayer and consideration and consultation with her family. Except for people like her brother, who was shocked to learm from a reporter that his sister had just quit as governor of Alaska. Or people like the Republican senator of her own state or the Republican National Committee. Or the Democratic senator from Alaska, who had just met with her two days before and listened to her explain her plans for pending legislation.

Palin's lawyer issued a statement saying that there is no truth to the rumor that she is under federal investigation for possible wrongdoing related to the building materials used to build her house. He said they will seek legal action for defamation against the Alaskan blogger who started that vicious rumor which is a complete fabrication.

“I am deeply disappointed that the Governor has decided to abandon the state and her constituents before her term has concluded.” -- Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) expressing shock and dismay at Sarah Palin's decision to simply walk away from her responsibilities.

Re: Sarah Palin Quits as Governor of Alaska!!!

Right, Obama ran for office and was elected president.

Sarah Palin quit in the middle of her first term as governor of Alaska, after serving a few years as mayor of the town of Wasilla, population somewhere around 7,500. She wasn't elected to a higher office. However, she did hear voices that told her she needed to quit in order to respond to a "higher calling." The "higher calling" is the money she can make getting paid $100,000 a pop to deliver her stock stump speech to the hardcore religious-right base of the GOP.

Tim Pawlenty has announced that he will not seek re-election as governor of Minnesota but he's not walking out in the middle of his term like Palin did. He's just not going to run for another term as governor because he intends to seek the 2012 GOP nomination.

Back in 1960, when Lyndon Johnson ran as JFK's veep, his term in the Senate was up, so he ran for BOTH re-election to the Senate and Vice President and was elected to both. You might remember that he was the Senate Majority Leader at the time. Kennedy didn't like him at all but he chose him to help carry Texas. In that sense, it was a smart move because they carried Texas by only about 50,000 votes.

    Blogger Strikes Back

Haha! The Alaskan blogger Sarah Palin threatened to sue for defamation held a little press conference of her own Sunday in front of Sarah Palin's Anchorage office, where she read a statement trashing Palin while the TV cameras rolled. This is hilarious! Palin is going to make this woman famous in Alaska. Her site will now have a huge spike in page views.

    Here is her prepared statement:
On the Fourth of July, when Americans everywhere were celebrating our most sacred national holiday with parades and barbeques, Governor Sarah Palin was busy having me, Shannyn Moore, declared an Enemy of the State.

In a rambling quasi-legal letter, the most powerful person in this state accused me of defaming her for pointing out the fact that there have been rumors, -rumors- of corruption, rumors that have been around for years.

When Sarah Palin gave her three-weeks notice to the people of Alaska, aborting her term as Governor, a lot of people wondered why she quit. Mid-level managers turn-in their notice, not elected public officials. It didn’t make sense. It still doesn’t. People have been trying to guess why she really quit, and everyone in Alaska has been playing the guessing game. They’re rumors. There are a lot of rumors. And with all the corruption we’ve had here in Alaska, of course we wonder what’s really behind her resignation.

Governors don’t just quit. But Governor Palin did.

The governor’s massive overreaction -on the Fourth of July no less- should make any reasonable person wonder what’s wrong with her. The Lady protests way too much. Eventually we’ll all find out why she really walked off the job.

Sarah Palin is a coward and a bully. What kind of politician attacks an ordinary American on the Fourth of July for speaking her mind? What’s wrong with her? The First Amendment was designed to protect people like me from the likes of people like her. Our American Revolution got rid of kings. And queens, too. Am I jacked-up? You betcha.

Sarah Palin, if you have a problem with me, then sue me. Shannyn Moore will not be muzzled!

Re: Sarah Palin Quits as Governor of Alaska!!!

Todd's father didn't even know Sarah was about to quit her job as governor. He received a text message on his cell phone from Todd late Thursday night telling him that Sarah would be "making an announcement" Friday morning and asking if he could attend. He was on a fishing trip 200 miles away and replied that he couldn't possibly make it.

He was shocked the next morning to learn that the announcement was that she was walking away from her job in mid-term.

Palin met with staffers and other people (like the Democratic senator from Alaska) all week long and gave no indication that she was about to resign. In fact, she discussed plans for what she would be doing in the following weeks to push certain legislation, etc.

It's clear from her actions that this was a spur of the moment decision. She was probably thinking about not running for re-election for a few weeks but the idea of actually resigning with 18 months left on her term didn't materialize until sometime Thursday evening. I guess that's when she heard those voices again. They probably told her that she could make a lot more money promoting her upcoming book and getting paid $100,000 a pop to speak before wing-nut crowds than the $125,000/year she makes as governor.

Is Sarah Palin mavericky? You betcha! McCain's campaign staffers were right. She really is the Republican party's "Little House of Horrors." Her resignation has managed to split the Goppies right down the middle. The true conservatives are trashing her decision and her supporters are standing up for her. It's great theater.

Re: Sarah Palin Quits as Governor of Alaska!!!

    Iquitarod

Gov. Sarah Palin granted separate TV interviews to ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and FOX News Tuesday at her husband's fishing camp on Bristol Bay. One of the stipulations was that the networks had to agree to interview Palin while she was fishing and they had to include an up-close-and-personal segment of her life as a fisherman. In other words, they had to agree to give her free airtime to burnish her image as just a simple, hardworking Christian woman who believes the Earth is 6,000 years old, and not concentrate on her less appealing image as someone who just aborted her term in the second trimester.

NBC's Andrea Mitchell (aka Mrs. Alan Greenspan) insisted on asking Palin why she is quitting in the middle of her first term as governor. Palin corrected her and told her in no uncertain terms that she is not a quitter, she's a winner. So apparently only winners walk away in the middle of their term and the ones who finish the job are all losers.

When asked if she had ambitions to run for the 2012 GOP nomination, Palin said that she can't predict the future any more than she can predict the next fish run. You might remember that last Thursday she told us that the reason she was quitting was because only dead fish go with the flow.

P.S. -- It could also be that the reason Palin insisted that all of the networks had to include a segment showing her working as a commercial fisherman (fisherwoman? fisherperson?) is because she wants to use that to pitch a reality TV series. According to her daughter's baby daddy, the real reason she quit her job as governor was to pursue lucrative money deals: the book deal and a reality TV series.

I'm not sure about the reality TV series but, as far as I know, she has already signed the book deal. At least it was shopped and the bidding is over and done with. Estimates are that she will receive between $7 to $11 million for that piece of fiction. I wonder who's writing it for her.

Jon & Kate Plus 8 were getting paid $75,000 an episode but that will probably double now that it's Jon & Kate Plus 8, Plus the Divorce & Custody Battle.

    1. Quitting when the going gets tough; abandoning the responsibility entrusted to you by your neighbors for book advances and to make money on the lecture circuit.

    2. Bizarre move that will damn ambitions for higher office.

Re: Sarah Palin Quits as Governor of Alaska!!!

    Higher Calling

Apparently Joe the Plunger Plumber is responding to that same Higher Calling.
Asked if he has plans to run for public office, he replied, "I hope not. You know, I talked to God about that and he was like, 'No.'"

He continued, "I believe he's gotten me on this grassroots movement. If I can encourage leaders to step up, that's what I would like to do. That's a heavy role. That's something I don't know if I am prepared to do yet."

But Wurzelbacher said he will keep that door open if God ever calls him to be that leader.

"I just know whenever I fall off his path, things get really hard," he said. "So I just stick with what God tells me to do."
The above was from an interview posted on WingNutDaily, June 30, 2009. I don't link to WingNutDaily. Find it for yourself if you're interested.

Notice that Mr. The Plumber talked to God, same as Sarah Palin. He talked about keeping doors open, same as Sarah Palin. And he's devoting himself to a grassroots movement, same as Sarah Palin.

The WND interview was conducted just before the July 4th weekend Teabagging Events around the country and the reporter was asking The Plumber about which Teabagging Parties he would be attending. Turns out he was scheduled to participate in speak at two different Goppie Teabagging Exhibitions Parties, both in Texas, July 2 and July 3.

I am happy to see that The Plumber is still popular with the base of the Republican Party.
