Hi There! - From an old RL friend

Hello RL,

Been years since I have been on this site, but an article I was reading reminded me of this hobby and thus, RL, so I thought I would stop in and say hello. Despite not having been back to these forums for years, I somehow managed to remember my PW and login info, so here I am!

I recognized some familiar names and thought it would be fun to say hello. It looks like the hobby is still going strong, and with the dreary outlook for so many wild reefs, captive breeding/culturing may eventually prove to be a major contributor to making sure generations in the future have the opportunity to witness these amazing ecosystems.

Anyway, hello to all my old friends ( I am looking at you Scott, Ninong, and anyone else still around from 'the good old days') I hope life is treating you well! I won't bore the huge majority of reefers here who haven't a clue who I am, but to those who knew me, I wish you the best!

How have you been?

So you're living in Folsom now. Good grief, you're nine years older now than you were when you were still in school and working part-time at that LFS in Hayward.

Remember when somebody sold your dad a clown tang for his tank? Remember when you got that black tang but it didn't last very long? Remember when you put that flame angel in your 90-gal tank and then had to remove it?

Hello Ninong!

Now, I always remembered you for having good memory (and for introducing me and most of the online reef world to starfire/low Fe glass), but you must have looked up that stuff from past posts or something, because even I didn't remember any of that!!

I am actually living in Sacramento now, lived in folsom a few years ago, guess I could update that, but chance are it will be a while before I come back around to RL. Perhaps not, but I haven't been involved in aquaria since I stopped working at that lighting company.

These days, I have a pair of amazing kids, a great spouse (the same one who lived with me through my reef addiction), and am just finishing up a degree in biochemistry & molecular biology, with plans to head off to medical school next year (if the admission gods give me the acceptance I have worked the last few years hoping for).

I need to get to bed, but will check back in sometime soon!

No, I didn't look any of that up. I posted as soon as I saw your thread. I could tell you a lot more but I just thought I would throw that out there. All of that happened while you were still working at the Livermore Lab, in case you forgot.

I could remind you of exactly which metal halide lights you were playing around with, remember? That was when you were trying to figure out which one you like better.

I don't even think Scott has all of those threads from back in 2000 and 2001. He keeps losing stuff every time he "upgrades."
