    Arrow Dumb Republicans!

    Just How Dumb Are Republicans?

Besides the fact that they insist on using the word Democrat as an adjective, because they're proud of their ignorance, just how stupid are Republicans?

For instance, how many Republicans think that Barack Obama was NOT born in the United States?

And, speaking of ignorance, how many Southerners don't believe in plate tectonics? How many Southerners aren't sure if the President of the United States is really an American? That's all Southerners, not just Republicans.

Here are the astounding numbers from Research 2000

Question: Do you believe that Barack Obama was born in the United States of America or not?

    Northeast: 93% Yes
    Midwest: 90% Yes
    West: 87% Yes
    South: 47% Yes

That's all people, not just Republicans. Bear in mind that African-Americans make up a third of the population in most Southern states and 97% of them responded "Yes" to that question. So that gives you a pretty good idea of how the rest of the people in the South responded. It's a combination of racial prejudice and downright ignorance!

The reason the West was only 87% is because they included Republican states like Utah, Idaho and Wyoming. They should separate the dumb Western states out and just use California, Oregon and Washington and call them the West Coast.

What about the Republicans? How many of them said they believe Barack Obama was born in the United States?

    42%

That's all Republicans nationwide. Less than half of Republicans in the United States believe that Barack Obama was born in the US. Apparently they believe everything Boss Limbaugh tells them to believe.

    Re: Dumb Republicans!

Just How Different Is the South?

Really, how out of synch with mainstream America is the South? As noted above, only 47% of Southerners believe that President Obama was born in the United States compared to 93% of Northeasterners, but what about white people in the South? Can we break that out?

Yes, we can. We know that only 47% of all Southerners believe that President Obama was born in the United States. That means that only one-fourth of white people in the South believe that Obama was born in the US. They believe that because they don't want to believe that this country has a legitimate black president. That's how deep racism still runs in the South.

As I mentioned in a previous thread about the presidential election, 60% of white Democrats in Louisiana voted for McCain. Only 38% of us voted for Obama. That 38% number for white Democrats was the lowest of any state in the country by a wide margin.

I googled and found the following numbers for the overall white vote in the three most 'Southern' of the Deep South states: Obama won 14% of the white vote in Louisiana, 14% in Mississippi, and 10% in Alabama. That's all white voters.

    Re: Dumb Republicans!

The fact that there are still people that claim that they would vote for Palin if she ran for president is an indication of the ignorance that still and will remain. As much as we needed Obama to win here in the US, we needed him more to restore confidence in the way the rest of the world views us, after the damage that the last administration did to our credibility in the world. We went from loved and respected, to hated and scorned, and now, with the election of Mr Obama, we have won back the admiration of many countries that we really need to be back on our side. People unfortunately only think of what is right in front of them. They don't realize how important our place in the world is, and how we are viewed by those outside of the US. This has a huge affect on the safety of Americans abroad. People here seem to deny the existance of cause and effect, another major error of the last administration. Republicans need to progress from their puritanical white christian fundimentalist narrow-mindedness, and Democrats need to grow balls.

    Re: Dumb Republicans!

    This Is Hilarious

WingNutDaily is all excited because attorney-dentist-real estate agent Orly Taitz has released a copy of what she claims is Barack Obama's Kenyan birth certificate. Apparently the idiots at WND actually think this thing is real: "WND was able to obtain other birth certificates from Kenya for purposes of comparison, and the form of the documents appear to be identical."

These people are ready to believe almost anything. Someone has really pulled a good one on them this time. I doubt that CNN's Lou Dobbs or FOX's Bill O'Reilly are dumb enough to actually pick up on this story but wouldn't it be hilarious if they did? Especially Lou Dobbs! I would love to see that moron fall for this. In case you've never heard of Lou Dobbs, he's the host of the Lou Dobbs Comedy Hour, aka White Supremacy for Dummies, on CNN.

I gotta say this thread is ridiculous. You generalize republicans to quite an extreme. And that whole birthplace deal could be easily cleared up with a real birth certificate. I personally don't care because I judge him on his actions, which have thus far been crap in my personal opinion. Not saying Dems or republicans are right or wrong, just that i don't like what's going on.

So in your opinion, we should alienate socialist countries. Thanks for sharing. Now go far away, at least as far as Dubya's place in Texas and stay there. I hope you both will be very happy together.

    Hey, Scott,

    Where have you been?

If case you haven't guessed, the theme of this thread is the South and how it ties in with the GOP's extremist positions. The South is the last place in the country where the GOP can get respect. They have become a regional party. There're on the endangered species list in the Northeast. In fact, I believe they're nearing extinction there now. Are there any Republican representatives left in the House from New England? I don't think so. There are the two women from Maine in the Senate but they're the last of what you might consider moderate Republicans in the Senate now that Lincoln Chafee lost his seat and Arlen Specter switched parties.

The latest poll results (taken 9/14-9/17/09) from Research 2000 are interesting in this respect. The question was whether you have a favorable or unfavorable opinion of the Republican party. Notice that the GOP's strength is in the South. Only 7% of respondents in the Northeast have a favorable opinion of the Republican party.

Interesting. The other results were pretty much in line with the latest trends. Obama's favorability rating has been falling but it's still solidly in the high 50's, down from close to 70 a few months ago.

No one likes either party in Congress but they dislike the Republicans twice as much as they dislike the Democrats. Nancy Pelosi's favorability rating is higher than Harry Reid's and both of them have much better ratings than John Boehner or Mitch McConnell. All four have higher unfavorables than favorables but McConnell and Boehner are polling lower than Cheney's lowest numbers.

    Full poll results.

P.S. -- How do you like the Republican Party of Texas, especially in your part of the state? Have you attended any good tea-bagging parties lately? Do you favor secession?

The bar graph is accurate. It is a graph of the response to a poll question. The question was do you have a favorable or unfavorable opinion of the Republican party. The graph breaks down the national results by region. Apparently a lot of Republicans in the Northeast, Midwest and West responded "no" to that question. They do not have a favorable opinion of their own party.

By comparison, when asked do you have a favorable or unfavorable opinion of the Democratic party, the results were as follows:

Northeast: 62% favorable, 26% unfavorable, 12% no opinion.
South: 20% favorable, 70% unfavorable, 10% no opinion.
Midwest: 46% favorable, 47% unfavorable, 7% no opinion.
West: 44% favorable, 48% unfavorable, 8% no opinion.

It is obvious that the Republican party is regarded very favorably in the South and very unfavorably in the Northeast. That was the point I was making. The Republican party is becoming a regional party whose policy positions are strongly influenced by the South.

    Full poll results.

    Re: Dumb Republicans!

    Here's a funny clip. It's Jon Stewart ripping birther Lou Dobbs. ;;

BTW, we discussed this topic to death ages ago in this forum. I even posted links to Obama's Hawaiian birth certificate as well as copies of the birth announcements in the two Honolulu newspapers. The newspapers get that information directly from the hospitals. I even posted a picture of the hospital.

So that topic is sort of beat to death at this point. Anyone still interested can just read what we have already said. It's really not interesting at this point.

P.S. -- On a personal note, I was once questioned about my own birth certificate. This was more than 50 years ago. I was required to present a "certified copy" of my birth certificate. I presented the original birth certificate. The person I was dealing with had apparently never seen an original Parish of Orleans birth certificate. I ended up having to go to City Hall and pay for a Certified Copy of Birth Record from the City of New Orleans Health Department because that's what was called for in the job application (which required a security clearance). The copy is pale green (like a check) and measures 3-1/2" x 7-7/8". The original is white (now yellowed white) and measures 3-3/4" x 8". So now I have one of each. I wonder if Louisiana still issues the originals or not?

    Scott,

Just to clarify, I was specifically talking about the examples I gave in my opening post. It was intended as an example of just how dumb some people can be. A secondary point I was making concerned the fact that Southerners, in particular, seem to be more likely than Americans in other regions of the country to be susceptible to the lunancy propagated by the right-wing media -- FOX News, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, et al.

I doubt that you fall into any of the categories cited as examples of Dumb Republicans. However...

You could be a Dumb Republican if you believe Obama is a Muslim.

You could be a Dumb Republican if you believe Obama was born in Kenya.

You could be a Dumb Republican if you believe Obama was a terrorist.

You could be a Dumb Republican if you believe Obama will destroy Medicare.

You could be a Dumb Republican if you believe Obama will kill your grandmother.

You could be a Dumb Republican if you believe Obama is a Nazi.

You could be a Dumb Republican if you believe Obama is a racist who hates white people.

You could be a Dumb Republican if you believe Obama wants atheism taught in schools.

You could be a Dumb Republican if you believe Obama wants us to pay for the health care of illegal immigrants.

You could be a Dumb Republican if you believe it was wrong for Obama to try to get the 2016 Olympics for Chicago.

All of those lies have been promoted on FOX News. I doubt that even the FOX News people believe half the crap they promote but they do it just to stir up hatred for our president.

FOX News isn't interested in the news. They're interested in pushing their right-wing agenda. They could care less about the truth of what they broadcast.

MediaMatters reports the latest example of FOX News promoting fiction as fact in an attempt to bring down an Obama Administration official. Note that FOX didn't attempt to verify the facts until AFTER they had been incorrectly reporting for days that the student was 15 at the time. He was 16, which is the legal age in Massachusetts.

A FOX producer contacted the student on his FaceBook page asking him to confirm the facts (this was AFTER they had been reporting on the alleged "crime" for days) and this is the reply from the student:
I was 16 when Kevin gave me the advice he gave me. I was born in July of 1971, and the conversation happened in 1988. It has been quite distressing to have heard otherwise on your broadcasts. Hopefully, my birthday should clear up any misunderstandings you and your employers have about my age and I look forward to seeing the correction made. Please forward me the link when you have done so.
FOX has been accusing Kevin Jennings of the crime of promoting homosexuality for not calling the police when one of his gay students confided in him that he was engaged in a "relationship" with an older man. That was back in 1988 when Jennings was a school teacher. Jennings wrote about this incident in one of his books. It's not a secret.

FOX has been reporting for days that the student was 15 at the time and that Jennings was guilty of the crime of failure to report statutory rape.

This CNN video clip accurately reports the whole story, including the fact that FOX News is lying. The student in question is now 37. He'll be 137 before he hears a retraction on FOX News.

P.S. - (Added Oct. 5, 2009) From Media Matters for America:

The former student at the center of the Fox News fueled Jennings controversy has provided Media Matters for America with the following statement:
Since I was of legal consent at the time, the fifteen-minute conversation I had with Mr. Jennings twenty-one years ago is of nobody's concern but his and mine. However, since the Republican noise machine is so concerned about my "well-being" and that of America's students, they'll be relieved to know that I was not "inducted" into homosexuality, assaulted, raped, or sold into sexual slavery.

In 1988, I had taken a bus home for the weekend, and on the return trip met someone who was also gay. The next day, I had a conversation with Mr. Jennings about it. I had no sexual contact with anybody at the time, though I was entirely legally free to do so. I was a sixteen year-old going through something most of us have experienced: adolescence. I find it regrettable that the people who have the compassion and integrity to protect our nation's students are themselves in need of protection from homophobic smear attacks. Were it not for Mr. Jennings' courage and concern for my well-being at that time in my life, I doubt I'd be the proud gay man that I am today.

    Re: Dumb Republicans!

    America Lost, Dumb Republicans Cheer

Watch video clip of all the Dumb Republicans and right-wing crackpots like Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh delight at the news that America lost the 2016 Olympics. Included is an older clip of then-President George W. Bush saying how much he supported Chicago's bid for the 2016 Olympics and how GREAT it would be for AMERICA if Chicago won its bid for the 2016 Olympics.

President Bush said they could count on his support. Of course, that was then and this is now. We have a black Democratic president in office and this infuriates certain members of the Republican party. I will simply call them the lunatic racist crackpot fringe of the party.

America lost. Yay! No USA, No USA, No USA. Way to go Brazil.

Republicans are so happy that America lost! Watch them clap with joy. Watch them delight in America's loss of the 2016 Olympics.

What a bunch of creeps! Cretins!

P.S. -- I wonder if Glenn Beck had time to take a dab of the Vicks he keeps in his desk to help him produce extra crocodile tears? He rubs a tiny dab of Vicks just under each lower eyelid to help him cry on cue. Of course for him America's defeat would produce tears of joy. Pond scum!
