Barack Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize
President Barack Obama just won the Nobel Peace Prize "for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples."
Glenn Beck will go berzerk! In fact, everyone on FOX News will go berzerk! This is going to be good!!! I can't wait for the video clips to hit YouTube.
As much as this is against my religion, I may have to watch the first ten minutes of Beck's program on FOX. It comes on at 4 p.m. my time.
P.S. -- I turned on FOX News just now and they were interviewing former (never-confirmed) U.S. ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton, who said that this was just "our European friends" trying to send a message that they only approve of "certain types" of U.S. presidents. He compared Obama's winning of the Peace Prize to former Nobel laureates Jimmy Carter and Al Gore.
FOX quoted some other pundit as saying that this was probably more a swipe at the Bush administration than anything else.
So, when a Republican president wins the Nobel Peace Prize, is that supposed to be a swipe at the Democrats? Just asking. The first American to win a Nobel Prize in any category was President Theodore Roosevelt, who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1906. Theodore Roosevelt was a Republican at the time.
When Woodrow Wilson won the Nobel Peace Prize, was that supposed to be a swipe at the Republicans?

I'm getting ready to tune in to FOX just to see Glenn Beck's reaction. I wonder if he has already applied a tiny smudge of Vick's under each eyelid? He uses that to help him produce lots of phony tears.
He comes on in ten minutes.

This is more painful than I expected. So far Glenn Beck has spend his entire time ranting and raving about illegal immigrants and the SEIU. He even compared himself to Ben Franklin.
Right this moment he's interviewing FOX News analyst Linda Chavez. Haha! LINDA CHAVEZ!!!
He's talking to Linda Chavez about illegal immigrants!!!
Linda Chavez is the woman George W. Bush nominated to be Secretary of Labor but she later withdrew after being persuaded to do so by the Republican party. You see there was that little problem about Linda Chavez having kept an illegal immigrant, Marta Mercado, in her basement for years. Ms Mercado was illegal but she was cheap labor. Linda Chavez knew she was illegal. She knew she was breaking the law championed by her former boss, Ronald Reagan, that prohibited hiring illegal immigrants. Linda Chavez was the highest ranking woman in the Reagan cabinet.
At first Chavez denied that she knew Mercado was illegal. Finally, after she asked President George W. Bush to withdraw her nomination to be Secretary of Labor, she admitted "I think I always knew." Of course she knew.
So the woman who kept an illegal immigrant housekeeper in her basement for years is now FOX News' authority on illegal immigrants!
P.S. -- Beck actually admitted just now that Reagan pushed through amnesty for illegal aliens in 1986 but that only granted citizenship to 3 million illegals. Beck is ranting and raving right now about the potential 12 million illegals that might be granted amnesty under any new immigration policy.
Looks like he prepared this illegal immigration rant ahead of time and that's what he's devoting his entire (?) program to today. I may have to give up on this because he's driving me nuts. This guy is so full of himself it's pitiful.
Maybe he wants to do what Rev. Mike Huckabee promised that he would do if elected president? Huckabee said that he would immediately deport all 12 million illegal immigrants. He was actually serious about that. There is no way we can deport 12 million people. First of all, it's impossible logistically. Second, it would be a disaster for our economy.
BTW, the Reagan administration went through the motions of enforcing the new immigrantion laws for maybe a year. That was it. After that we went back to the same lax policies as before. We have 12 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. because both Republican and Democratic administrations have refused to do anything about it. This is nothing new and nothing that can be blamed on any one political party.

Well, it's 42 minutes now and Beck is still going on and on about illegal immigration. I give up. I just turned him off. I was getting too nauseated. This guy is just too ridiculous to listen to for an hour straight.

Personally I dont agree with Obama winning a Nobel Peace prize, nothing against him I just dont think he deserves one. At the same time I am against people getting "Honarary Doctorates".
I'm surprised that he won. I think he was VERY surprised that he won. He didn't even know that he had been nominated. We won't know who was nominated for another fifty years. We do know that the vote on the committee for Obama was "unanimous," according to the committee. There are five members on the Nobel Peace Prize committee, all appointed by the Norwegian parliament. Three of them were appointed by the ruling socialists and two by the conservatives.
On the other hand, I was shocked when Henry Kissinger won the Nobel Peace Prize for negotiating an end to the war in Vietnam. That was a complete travesty when you consider what Kissinger did during the war.
So, yes, I was surprised that Obama won so soon in his presidency. Pleasantly surprised.
Bill Cosby now refers to himself as "Dr." Bill Cosby. At least that's what he was called in the TV ads for some program he was putting on. He has no doctorate in anything. All of his "doctorates" are honorary. You don't get to use the title "Doctor" for an honorary award, just a real doctorate. At the same time I am against people getting "Honarary Doctorates".
P.S. -- Here's the email I got from the White House today:This morning, Michelle and I awoke to some surprising and humbling news. At 6 a.m., we received word that I'd been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009.
To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who've been honored by this prize -- men and women who've inspired me and inspired the entire world through their courageous pursuit of peace.
But I also know that throughout history the Nobel Peace Prize has not just been used to honor specific achievement; it's also been used as a means to give momentum to a set of causes.
That is why I've said that I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations and all peoples to confront the common challenges of the 21st century. These challenges won't all be met during my presidency, or even my lifetime. But I know these challenges can be met so long as it's recognized that they will not be met by one person or one nation alone.
This award -- and the call to action that comes with it -- does not belong simply to me or my administration; it belongs to all people around the world who have fought for justice and for peace. And most of all, it belongs to you, the men and women of America, who have dared to hope and have worked so hard to make our world a little better.
So today we humbly recommit to the important work that we've begun together. I'm grateful that you've stood with me thus far, and I'm honored to continue our vital work in the years to come.
Thank you,
President Barack Obama

What about the Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at President Bush? I understand he was given serious consideration by the Nobel Committee.
Next up, Obama wins the Heisman Trophy! Wait for it. It's possible.
P.S. -- I love it! Not least because it's freaking out people like Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh, two of my favorite people on the list of people who deserve to be freaked out as often as possible.
In fact, I think Obama should donate the $1.4 million prize to ACORN. That would REALLY freak them out!

obamba and busch, brought to you by the same people who advertise the mcdonalds happy meal...
all three are about the same quality....
Hi All,
Lets’ talk about the merits of Obama receiving a Nobel Peace Prize…
IMO, this was a pure political statement by the Nobel committee that Obama fits their vision of a leader of a country that is a “World Citizen”
Whether that sits well with any given person in the US is another discussion.
Regards,
Scott
