    Re: phillies

I just hope this series is a better one than the Phils and Rockies, then we are in for some fine baseball!!!

No real favorite, here, but I honestly think the Dodgers are as good as the Phils, it will probably get down to the closers, and you guys may be in trouble!!

Nothing against the Phillies, but I think the Yankees will win. That is all.

    Re: phillies

Have you noticed that when you're watching football games or baseball games half the commercials are for pizza or Philly cheesesteak sandwiches or barbeque chicken wings or other foods that you can have delivered? They even tell you to order online or on your i-phone. They keep showing close-up photos of food throughout the entire game.

I can't eat anything tasty until after next Monday. I'm having my cholesterol re-checked because it was 209 six weeks ago. If it's not lower than that the doctor will put me on Lipitor or whatever. I'm not sure how low it has to be other than the fact that it has to be below 200. I hope he doesn't expect me to get it down below 190??? It has been between 188 to 218 for the past twenty years or so, and that's without taking any medicine to lower it.

So, wish me luck. I hope it's down around 196 or something but I don't know if that will be enough to keep them happy. I haven't eaten red meat or shrimp or most dairy products for the past six weeks. And I haven't eaten anything fried either. This is a big PITA if you ask me. If this works, then I will know that next time all I have to do is go on this low-fat diet crap for four or five weeks before they draw the blood for the cholesterol test. I think they test me once a year. This last test was a pop quiz. They didn't give me any advance warning that they were about to test me for that. Oh, well...

Here's hoping it's a good game tonight and I hope either the Yankees or the Phillies win. One of those teams would be fine with me. We'll see. I'm just glad it's not the Dodgers.

The last time my team, the Giants, were in the World Series I was hit with a 7.0 earthquake that knocked out my power for three days. And that was when I was living in a condo on the 7th floor. We couldn't use the elevators because there was no electricity. So we had to walk down 10 floors and then up three floors (total of 13 floors) to get out of the building. The way the building was constructed, you couldn't open any of the doors from inside the emergency stairwell until you got to the bottom basement parking level (three levels below the ground floor). That was the only way to get out of the building.

    Oops! Wrong Macy's Ad

Yesterday, the Inquirer ran a 3/4-page Macy's ad congratulating the Phillies on winning back-to-back World Series championships.
The three-quarter-page Macy's ad is on the back of the front section and features a T-shirt with the Phillies logo, the commissioner's trophy and the phrase "Back To Back World Series Champions."

The Inquirer released a message to readers saying the paper deeply regrets the error.

And Macy's is actually a New York City-based department store chain.

The Phillies played the Cowboys last night. They didn't win that either.

The Yankees have been invited to the White House. The Phillies have been invited to make a special guest appearance on this TV show.

Never mind the great American boretime. When does curling season start. And did you see the cover of ESPN the magazine. Phil Ivey? He's a gambler. He gambles. There's a lot of arguments about what is a sport and what isn't, bowling, golf, .... curling, but who considers poker a sport? Maybe if he were playing with the kind of people where when you win you grab your money and run to your car as fast as you can without getting shot, then perhaps it might get a nod as a test of physical prowess. He plays in swanky casinos with an entourage around him all the time; I don't even think he carries his own drink to the next table, he definetely doesn't carry his own chips. Give him a broom and some skates eh? Then put his nerdy (and wealthy, for now) mug on the cover.

Hey, that's another World Series the Phillies didn't win: the World Series of Poker.

But neither did Phil Ivey. Some 21-year-old kid named Joe Cada won. Sorry, Phillies, better luck next year.

That's pretty funny. But please don't give ESPN any ideas. " Tonight on the Ocho, the Phillies versus the Yankees in billiards"

I lived in England for a bit when I was a kid, I've seen cricket on television ("and here on the third day, its Butsmarton 2ought3 with all in and Snorealottingham 84 half way through". I've seen darts on television ("one hundred and eigggghhhhtttty). I've seen bowls, yep bowls, (its like bocci only different in some way that no one should know). Skittles, (I swear to Christ, I have seen skittles on television!), I've seen sheep herding, (man I wish my dog would just stop crappin on the carpet), countless telephone books torn in half on Britain's Strongest Man, snooker (this one scrawny guy with red hair got so famous he was doing commercials all over everywhere), indoor football (soccer), rowing, ping pong, and Benny Hill trying to score. And all of it was more of a sport than poker.

And I hate to say it, but the sheep herding, ping pong, and Benny Hill was more entertaining than baseball.
I actually like playing baseball. Watching it is awful tough.
