What are they THINKING...??? That is so ill responsible I am almost sick...
Makes me want to become a member of that board to tell them what idiots they are.
And yet part of me is scared and thinks that some people on this board may want to try, please don't even if it works as one of them suggested, cutting the life of an animal in half should never be accepted.
Play well

I had heard rumors of clownfish being in freshwater somewhere, but I thought it was just a lie, makes me so sad
Too bad I am at work and can't log into their board... I'd tell them how clueless they are!

Beware of common names! There are true freshwater morays in Sri Lanka, but I think most freshwater morays are a brackish species from Indonesia. A LFS might very well sell these as Snowflake Morays. I think there is also a synbranchus eel that I've seen sold as a snowflake eel. These are true freshwater fish! Just remember freshwater sharks can be minnows or catfish.
If they are talking about Echidna nebulosa, not a freshwater fish. If they are talking about Synbranchus marmoratus they are a freshwater fish.
Freshwater clowns will go away like wonder water the miracle product that allows you keep freshwater and marine fish together. Then again I bought a black ghost from a pet shop that went into shock the moment I introduced it to my discus tank. I checked the bag water with a TDS meter and it went off the scale. Later I checked the LFS water with a sea test hygrometer and got a reading of 1.006! Some LFS's add so much salt to their tanks I'm surprised their is much of a difference betweeen the salt and fresh departments.

Just remember that there ARE FW morays and if they happen to be called snowflake morays...well...I guess that they are called that, Even if they are not SW morays, (friggen common names, huh?). But, yes that guy is a moron.
BTW, Rowdy - I like your post in that other board.![]()

I don't know why this DH has a map of Australia on his site, cause I can find no reference to Australia on it.
Please do not think this is what we do to our marine animals.

did you guys see the post over at reef central a couple weeks back about the guy who bought SW fish and threw them in his FW tank "to watch them pop". Go do a search, almost made me sick.
Ranaman has a good point about making sure you're talking about the same thing.
I remember back in junior high a classmate, Patty, shared a last name with the old white-haired dottering school principal, Miss Worley. One day my friend Sherry and I were gossiping about Patty. Only I thought we were gossiping about old Miss Worley. Sherry kept saying things that I thought were a little odd, but I nearly fell off my chair when Sherry said," She goes to the skating rink wearing this really short skirt, trying to pick up boys." Your KIDDING!!! Old Miss WORLEY???? Of course we got such a huge laugh out of it I remembered it all these years.
But the point is, make sure you're talking about the same eel. Even though the scientific names give you a headache trying to read them, their use can erase a lot of confusion.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions, but it's the thought that counts.
I just don't understand
Thats CRAZY!!!!

2 + 2 != 4
Two is only loosely associated with two by a plus sign and therefore doesn't enter the equation at all since it is only there by mere complicity. We shouldn't count it and leave well enough alone.

In most cases, people who post things like that are just "trolling." They are not serious. They just visit various boards to stir things up. We have had three or four of them visit this board but we locked them out immediately and deleted their idiotic posts. I don't know if you managed to see any of the posts I'm talking about, but they were really far out. Once we simply moved one of them to the General Discussions forum but even there some people were taking the guy seriously, so we killed it and told him to get lost. All of those threads were opened by newly registered members whose only interest was in stirring things up a bit for their own amusement. We even had one guy who registered under more than one name simultaneously so that he could argue with himself.

That particular troll attack was heralded with the infamous "China will be the first to colonize Mars".

yeah I know all about trolling, this was a respected RC member. Upon seeing a saltwater fish screensaver on the RC member's computer a coworker asked about it. The RC member explained how they liked reefs and such. THe coworker proceeded to tell the RC member how he kept FW fish and liked to buy saltwater fish and throw them in his freshwater tank "to watch them pop". The RC member became enraged and told the coworker to stop/go away and wanted to know from other RC members if she had overreacted. Does this make sense?
