HELLO, do I look THAT stupid?????

OK, I'll admit it; I am an English teacher.

I had my students write a paper in class. I looked up and saw a student copying from a printout. Oookaay, ohwell, to avoid controversy all I said was, "Turn that in when you turn in that paper; I want that source."

So, he turns in the source with the paper; nothing from the source is in the paper. So he's ok right, yeah right. I went to the source the bozo used and found the actual pages the idiot had used in his paper. You know, the same source he had turned in, with the web address on the page, just a different section.

OK, I know I may not be the most diligent when it comes to overseeing students and cheating, but that just means this clown is a real bonehead to get caught by me.

I just came from the site he copied so that's why I'm venting here. I can't WAIT until Monday. Actually I hate this crap and students who spend more time and trouble cheating than it would take to do an honest job.

Well, this was fun. I am over it now. (what a bozo)

I think I read somewhere a couple months back, that 55% of all students in high school cheat or have cheated.

Yeah I enjoyed teaching back in college, but I taught Art as a TA (the proff only came in once a week), anyway, you can't cheat at Art.

Though I did have this girl complain once that she couldn't draw a straight line on one assignment I gave, so I gave her my ruler and asked her to try again.

Anyway, better to vent here then at school, the kids grade will show how well he did on the paper, right?

Cheating in high school is common place I would imagine that 90% of all students have and will cheat at some point in there acedemic careers, But only the true idiots actually get caught..Whats the website he was at? Just curious.. And if you look at things historically..Man just look at all the crooks we have in office Condit, etc.. Everyones a cheater most just never get caught..

This was cheating at the community college level, not high school. The final is Monday, which I assure you he will not be taking. One of the reasons I don't obsess over catching cheaters is I know it is so rampant. I once read the same paper twice from two different students. It does sadden me though that our society has become so dishonorable. I think the concept of personal honor is a much abused and neglected concept these days. He used sparknotes.com.

I know alot of fraternities have files of old term papers and projects at there houses.... Yeah he definately shouldn't take the Final especially since it was college level.. I went to Fresno State and alot of our teachers actually started making copies of every paper turned into them because there was so much cheating going on..Althoguh the AG department has used the exact same tests for about 10-15 years every ag student has about 4 different versions of each test before they go to take the test..Needless to say almost all ag students get straight A's... I had alot of friends that were AG majors and I was really amazed that the teachers never changed the tests..

I am personally glad that I went to college in the pre-internet years. I have no doubt that I would have pulled papers off the net instead of stringing random quotes together into the unintelligible pieces of drivel that passed for my English papers.

I do wish I'd had a computer instead of a typewriter, as it took me twice as long to type the papers and footnotes as it did to "write" them.
