Ed Balls and his wife Yvette are both members of Parliament and both were re-elected, so that means the hung Parliament will have a pair of Balls.

They're both Labour. He's the present Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families and his wife is the current Secretary of State for Work and Pensions. Both were re-elected Thursday.

I just happened to google him because he's being mentioned as a successor to the very unpopular Gordon Brown. Everyone wants Gordon Brown to step down. Everyone that is except Gordon Brown. Anyway, people are saying that the Liberal Democrats might be willing to support Labour in a coalition government but only if Brown steps down as leader of Labour. People are talking about this guy Ed Balls as his replacement.

Right now that rich Tory guy, David Cameron, is proposing that the Lib Dems join him in a coalition government, which would be absurd. The Lib Dems are to the left of Labour. I cannot imagine that they would ever agree to join the Tories in a coalition government. The Lib Dems want the entire election system changed so that each party would get proportional representation in Parliament equal to their percentage of the popular vote. The Lib Dems received 23% of the popular vote but they ended up with only 9% of the seats because each seat goes to the candidate who received the most votes in that district. Neither the Conservatives nor Labour is interested in changing the current system that favors them. If the system is changed, the UK will end up like Italy or Israel where the minor parties demand concessions from the party in power before they will provide their support.

Gordon Brown called Nick Clegg, the Lib Dem leader, yesterday and Clegg suggested that Brown step down. That proposal didn't go down all that well with Brown.

I think what both Labour and the Liberal Democrats should do is allow Cameron to form a minority government without their participation and then wait for that government to fall. It won't last a year. Mark my words. In fact, the next government won't last a year no matter which party is in power. So let the Conservatives screw things up enough that the people will be ready for another change.

Anyway, all of that was just an excuse so that I could use the headline: Hung Parliament to Have Pair of Balls.
