OMG, Is This Thing Ugly, or What?
Here.
Who in their right mind would spend £630 million ($1,008,000,000.00) for that?
I'm pretty sure I saw that building before in one of the Mad Max movies.

Definitely wouldn't be my choice of home...or city to build it in. I've been in Mumbai.
Anyways, I guess that's what people do that have more money than they know what to do with.
I hope he likes it because I have a feeling the market for $1-billion homes is extremely limited. Especially if they look like that monstrosity!
He employs a staff of 600 to keep his home running! I wonder how many of those are security?
The last line of the article is hilarious:
Ambani does not appear to be influenced by calls by the Indian prime minister, Manmohan Singh, for business leaders to be "role models of moderation".

Ninong,
One of the comments at the link that you posted said: That is the ugliest building I have ever seen. Clear to see that money does not buy you good taste. Who on earth would want to live in crates piled on their sides”
That about sums up my take on that “abode” as well.

More Proof That Money Can't Buy Taste...
...but it can buy a whole lot of tacky!
Did the Jersey Shore cast do the interior design? Is that the most atrocious interior you have ever seen, or what? It can be yours for only $40 million. It will cost you another $5 million to turn it into something slightly less insane. Be sure to check out all 27 pics!

My other hobby besides reefkeeping is architecture, so I am a little more appreciative of different types of architecture. I personally like that building in Mumbai. It's too big to truly be considered a home though. If you like modern style architecture, the Japanese architects are making the best stuff right now. It's amazing how awesome a 2000sqft house can be if you throw some money into the building (and the architecture). Most Americans detest modern architecture, not really sure why.
Just looked at the Jersey Shore home, uhhh, I can't really say anything nice about that. Baroque in LA is somewhat redundant I think. The lot is way too small for that style of home. Everything in the home blends together in a way that makes nothing stand out. That's probably what I dislike about all Baroque architecture. Even Versailles has this problem. All the rooms look the same. The only way you can tell them apart is the different colors. "Oh it's green, I must be in the bathroom". Or, "Don't pee there, it's orange, its the living room! That's a wet bar!"
I just can't bring myself to see anything attractive about this building.
I would rather live in Versailles -- nicer view. Versailles is actually smaller than that building.
Maybe he deliberately made it unattractive so that his neighbors wouldn't be envious?
To me it looks like a bunch of crates stacked on their sides. I have seen a lot of modern buildings that I do like but this is definitely not one of them.

Billion dollar paperweight anyone? Or could it be the worlds most expensive unfinished elevator shaft?
