Exclamation Endangered Species Act under attack in lame-duck session of Congress:

    Endangered Species Act Under Attack

Never before has a species been removed from the Endangered Species Act by legislative action. But that could change. The lame-duck Congress is considering attaching a rider to an unrelated piece of legislation that would remove the gray wolf from the Endangered Species Act.

Believe it or not, Obama's Secretary of the Interior, Ken Salazar, has expressed support for this outrageous action!

Read all about it here. Then contact your congressional representative and your state's senators, as well as the White House, and tell them how pissed you would be if they do something like this!

Re: Endangered Species Act under attack in lame-duck session of Congress:

    Update:

The deal between Obama's Secretary of the Interior, Ken Salazar, and the governors of Montana, Idaho and Wyoming may have hit a snag late today.

    Read all about it here.

I am still dismayed that the Obama administration would agree to removing the gray wolves from the Endangered Species Act in the first place. This has never been done before, not even with a Republican in the White House.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Montana's two Democratic Senators don't figure out a way to add this to the bill extending the Bush tax cuts.

Wait and see what happens before that tax-cut bill is finally passed. It will be loaded with amendments for special interests. All or almost all of the Republicans will vote for it no matter what's in it as long as it preserves the "bipartisan" compromise they worked out with the White House last night. Then Harry Reid will have to find enough Democrats willing to vote for it so that it passes. Some Democrats have even vowed to filibuster it, requiring Reid to get 60 votes to envoke cloture. If anyone filibusters it, Reid will need 17 Democratic senators in addition to himself, to envoke cloture.

Anyway, I'm getting off-topic again. The important thing is that I really don't want them to take any species off the Endangered Species Act by an act of Congress. This would be a disaster for the Endangered Species Act. It would be a terrible precedent. The Republicans will have a large majority in the House next month and they could very well take both the Senate and the White House in the 2012 elections.

Can you imagine what would happen to the Endangered Species Act with Republicans in control of the House, the Senate and the White House if they knew they could simply pass a law every time they wanted to remove a species from the Endangered Species Act?

Harry Reid wants to pass a law allowing legalized online gambling in the U.S. Watch him try to stick it into the tax bill or some other must-pass legislation.

I am so fed up with the Senate and the White House this week that I have to keep reminding myself that it wouldn't be a good idea to throw anything at the TV when President Obama comes on to explain his latest compromise.

I read on another blog site that President Obama has admitted that he was, in fact, born in Morocco. "It's halfway between Kenya and the U.S.," Mr. Obama explained, "so in the spirit of bipartisan compromise I'm going to admit that I was born in Morocco. There's probably some truth to both sides. I hope that by extending this olive branch to my opponents that we can lay this matter to rest."

In a hastily-called press conference a few hours later, Mr. Obama scolded Democrats who insisted that he was born in Hawaii. "Have you seen my original long-form birth certificate? No? Well then, how can you be sure? My parents are both dead, so I can't ask them, and I was too young to remember. So Morocco it is."

One would think that Congress has more important things to do...but I agree it's disturbing they would even consider this.

Also, I think the Morocco Obama thing was a joke...he would be in danger of impeachment if he actually admitted he wasn't born in the US.

Yes, of course the born-in-Morocco bit was a joke. I hope no one took that seriously? Maybe I should have made it even more over the top. Sort of like Obama's hastily-called press conference to berate the Democrats for opposing the tax-cuts deal he worked out with the Republican leaders behind closed doors without any of the House Democrats present for the final session.

The Imperial Democratic President has arrived. He will almost certainly be a one-term president now. He had better hope that the Republicans nominate someone like Sarah Palin or Mike Huckabee -- someone so ridiculously horrible that Democrats who would rather just stay at home in November 2012 will be forced to vote for him. There's always the outside possibility that he could be primaried but he eliminated his most serious competition by bringing her into his cabinet.

Apparently this issue is on the back burner until next year when the Republicans will control the House and have five more seats in the Senate. It is almost certain that some sort of bill will pass and be signed by President Obama.

It's really a shame that we went to all the trouble of importing wolves from Canada and now it's about to be open season on them.
