Well, my wife and I were awaken at the wee hour of 3am by our australian shephard jumping into our bed. No matter what we did, we couldn't get her down. Usually the simple shove of the foot gets her down quickly, but not this time. All the while in the bed she's panting really hard and nudging us and we couldn't get her to stop.
So I get up, all P.O.'d, thinking the dog door was closed or she was thirsty and didn't have water. NOPE, she had access to the outside and her water bowl was full of fresh water.
Since I was awake, I begin to make some fresh coffee and start up the computer.
The damn dog is still bugging me........
I then take a quick survey of the house. The gas on the stove wasn't on and there wasn't any smoke anywhere. Double checked all doors to the house, all locked.
Finally I pass through my laundry room, where I keep my RO/DI unit and top off jugs, to check if my garage door was left open all night. Low and behold I step into about an inch of water covering the floor (and leaking out to the attached garage).
HOLY CRAP!!! I forgot to turn off my RO/DI unit and it overflowed my top-off jugs and water was everywhere. What a mess!!
For the record, I do not have an auto topoff system or an automatic shutoff valve. I usually set a timer and shut it off manually. I think it is time to get that auto top-off with a float valve intalled....
Thanks to my little 55 lbs. Australian Shephard, My entire kitchen and living room wasn't flooded.
Another case of: Good doggy, bad owner!!
Just thought I'd share.
