Whats up with this...
Maybe the culpit didn't want to tell his wife that he didn't catch anything when he went diving:
From ABC news: Spearfishing the Easy — and Illegal — Way KEY WEST, Fla. — Catching a 20-pound grouper or trout is normally hard work, but for one enterprising burglar it was as easy as shooting fish in a barrel — literally. When Key West Aquarium curator Bob Cerkleski came to work last Tuesday, he found several dead fish in his tanks. He quickly discovered several others with new puncture wounds. "Right away I could tell something was screwy with them," he said. "There were holes in them." Apparently, somebody had broken into the facility and gone after the animals with a spear gun. In total, about 20 fish were missing, dead or injured — mostly grouper and snapper — as well as several lobsters. "Also a speckled trout," he sighed. "That was a nice animal. We've had it for quite a while." In some, Cerkleski could see the X-shaped hole left by the spear, and there were also spear marks in the concrete in the tank. He was grateful that the thief didn't touch some of the harder-to-replace creatures at the facility, such as tarpon, bonnet-head sharks, and turtles. The fish were in an open-air tank, but buildings on all four sides enclosed the area. Cerkleski believes the fish-napper climbed a tree and then got onto the roof. It was a daring break-in, Cerkleski admitted, but he says, "I don't think there was sportsmanship there." Key West police are investigating the matter, and the aquarium intends to install an advanced new security system.
