    the ultimate crime??

This really stinks. Some people we know rescued two baby raccoons from the road when the mother was hit by a car. They were told they should have left them on the road and were denied a permit to keep them. They refused to put them back to die so they kept them. They were still very small and had to be bottle fed. One didn't make it but the other did great. This was eight years ago. Early this week an "informant" reported them and the warden and police showed up and took the raccoon away to be "euthanized". The couple will now stand before a judge for "harboring a wild animal". This is not downtown big city. These people were like 5 miles to the nearest stoplight. In this case the law sucks and as for the "informant"- I can't really express my views on this person on a public board.

The system does not work! when on vacation, I heard on the news that a man murdered a man and wife, and there were witnesses, but the witnesses testimonies were invalid, because they were AA members and that broke the AA's code of confidentiality. That man got away with murder! They say things have to be judged on an individual basic, then they go back and say some garbage involving the constitution. My point: in any other country, that man would be hung and beaten, and no one would give a rats @$$ about the raccoons! Sometimes I think the ruskies have a better way of life!

ahhhhh........ god bless the legal system,

as a side note, did they ever check into giving it to a wildlife center that reabilitates animals?

Don't really know that but they did contact the State Game Commission which I'm sure if that was an option they would have been told. I know they were told to put them back. This was 8 years ago and I don't know if that was an option at that time or last week. The State did say the raccoon had to much contact with people so the only option was to have it "put down". This is so weird to me. When I was a kid almost everyone up and down the road had a wild critter for a pet with no problems. I had two friends with raccoons, an old man down the road from me had an albino raccoon and two brothers farther had a red fox -the other had a grey fox. I was the only one with a skunk. The problem now is that too many people and the goverment are poking their noses into other peoples affairs.
