24 hours from now we'll be leaving for the Reno airport to LAX, then off to Rarotonga via New Zealand Airlines. Hopefully we've got everything together. None of us have been sleeping well as we're all excited about going. I'm really going to miss you folks. There's a little computer shop in the village of Avarua that one can get on the internet for email and such. I'll try and check in and let everyone know how the island is. Take care everyone. Make a wish for our critters here at home for us, OK? We've got a good kid "house-sitting" for us that has tanks so we're pretty comfortable with it.

Any unusual customs?
If you haven't already done so, you might want to check on whether there are any unusual customs on the island.
In many western Pacific islands, women cannot show their legs, and any females traveling with you would need a long skirt/cover-up, or risk offending the locals by walking around in shorts.
This was the case in Truk (Chuuk,) but interestingly, they did not hesitate to walk around topless all day.
