Ah the Caribbean

Ok folks I need your help, my wife and I are going to the caribbean on a cruise in october. I need to know which place has the best snorkeling, since I am not yet scuba certified. Places we are stopping at are

Nassau, Bahamas

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Labadee, Hispaniola(Royal Caribbean's private island)

I will probably only snorkel in one of the ports unless its just to hard to decide and then I will snorkel in all the ports. Any information you can give me would be get.

I have never been to any of those places, but Cozumel has the best Caribbean snorkeling I have ever been too. Might be cheap soon, with the storms running through. And the Dollar goes forever there.

For diving (when you get certified I am rather partial to the Caymen islands

All of those places will have great snorkeling. You ought to buy a set up (mask, snorkel, fins) before you go, and you can snorkel everywhere and not have to rent at each port. Pretty much all of those places will have good snorkeling right off the beach.

I can only vouge for Nassau, which is great snorkeling but I will also say that if I had those choices and had to pick one I would say it would be RC's private island.....You can bet that the reef does not see as much traffic

Mrs. Nuc and I went to St. Thomas this past March. We took a trip to Coral World - there is snorkeling there at the beach next to it but....overall i give the place a 6 on a 1 - 10 scale.

I realize you're looking for snorkeling places but figured I would give you a heads up. The island itself is awesome!
