most of my freinds think that he wont be the the same(he wont
)and it will be "anti-climactic",possibly tarnish his reputation,or memories of what he was..............i say the guy is still a top five player, and though he has certainly(i would guess)lost a step at age 38,he will adjust his game accordingly the big difference/challenge ,imo, will be his defense. |

I, for one, didn't want him to return. The way he went out both times was perfect. However, with the zone defenses implemented this season, he may not have as hard a time gettin his shot off as opposed to defenses being one on one. Still, there's no way he can guard the likes of Iverson, Kobe, TMac, Finley, and VC even with the new defensive rules in place. Then there's the big guys like Shaq, TD, KG....Athleticism is athleticism, and no one can get over on Father Time...not even MJ.
Also, his new supporting cast in DC flat out sucks. No more Pippen, Rodman, Grant. No more Phil Jackson, no Tex Winter. No more triangle offense. Besides Richard Hamilton and Courtney Alexander (both unproven), who's gonna assume the scoring? MJ, 38 years old playing for 35-40 min. a night? Unlikely. I can only pray they don't look to Christian Laettner...... ![]() I hope this season doesn't serve to embarass the greatest of all time....but he shoulda stayed retired. ![]() Jason Richarson ('01-'02 R.O.Y.) will make Bay Area fans forget all about Vince Carter. Warriors to win 30 games this year. ![]() |

I normally stay out of sports discussions because, well, because I hate sports. However, I have a great deal of respect for Michael Jordan. The first time he retired was due to personal reasons (his father was murdered) and so his come back was welcome. His last retirement was a good idea, IMO. He is getting too old and could not perform like he did when he was younger. He has a great chance to embarass himself this season. I just hope that we are wrong.

I'm a big HOOPS fan, I play ball. Practicing on And 1s ahha... Anyway, lets hope he isn't injured through out the 82 games and give the Wizards' fans their money's worth.
You know, there will be the talk of KB vs. MJ, when they play the LAKERS ahhaha... They have K. Brown #1 draft, but who cares... I think MJ is also here to promote the team, get the sales going, all part of his PRESIDENT OF BASKETBALL OPERATIONS job. haha.. I hope the LAKERS get a 3-peat, cause watching SHAQ pulverize his opponents is funny, I.E. ELBOW MUTOMBO was hillarious, and watching the Kobe make those impossible shots is fascinating. But why are the Lakers picking up Old people, like Dennis Scott, L. HUnter. They should've kept Ty Lue. Last edited by Wind; 10-03-2001 at 05:57 AM. |

speaking of And 1, I gotta get my hands on that mix tape....the Warriors need Rafer Alston, shoulda drafted Speedy Claxton last year....and they shoulda signed Rashad Phillips over the summer....
Management here sucks.Marketing ploy? I think so. The Wizards sold more jerseys in the last 3 weeks than they had in the last 4 years.... funny, Dennis Scott wasn't even in the league last year... Only reason he's there is cuz he's Shaq's buddy.....oh well, at least Richmond finally gets to play for a winning team....Not a Laker fan by any means, but Kobe will flat out own MJ this year. Jason Richardson = ROY '01-'02 |

I guess we will find out,, at the end of the month what JORDAN looks like..
I've only watched volume 3.. didnt' have a chance for 1,2, or 4 yet. Those are some ill moves... I kinda remember Scott from Magic years, haha.. I dont know what Richmond can do, play back-up. Oh well, I hope to see Michael. See how one of the ICONs in BASKETBALL switched his JERSEY and number to promote the Wizards. I always thought MJ would be the icon, but he is already ruining that. Olajuwan also, he went to Houston for college and played for them, now w/ the Raptors. J. RICE too, switching to RAIDERS ... Oh well, I guess its just the way it is... |

Hey Wind, here's another one....Ewing in any jersey besides the Knicks! If anyone was gonna stay with one team for his whole career, I thought it woulda been him.... now HE'S a player that really, really should retire....
![]() Dennis Scott, Nick Anderson, Penny Hardaway, and Shaq back in the Orlando days......damn am I that old? I saw Richmond in his prime, here in Oakland, back in the Run-TMC days of the early 90's....man, he shot the lights out of the gym, and was good for 23-25 a clip. Back then, he was known for being able to lock down MJ, he was that good of a defender. Since the League is gonna make zone defenses legal now, you're gonna be happy with him. Mitch Richmond = zone buster. If anyone deserves a ring, it's him. I wonder what Harold Miner's doing right now. ![]() Jason Richardson is the real deal. |

OK, it's 2 and a half weeks into basketball season, and yup......Jordan's "comeback" was a big time bust. He's embarassing himself every night. His legacy was his to control, and he's officially blown it. Every player in the league knows he's lost a lot, and is taking full advantage of it (ie. Paul Pierce, Antione Walker...even Jon Barry
). Sportswriters across America, who once vociferously applauded his return are now lamenting it, calling it nothing short of regrettable. Funny, now that this "comeback" is an official bust, MJ has changed his stance, now assuming the "on-the-court-mentor" role in his return as opposed to the previous "I-miss-the-competition" stance he took prior. He struggles to play even 28 min/game. 30 points? Not if you need 30 shots and a FG of 21-35% to do it. Sorry Mike, but like I said in an earlier post, not even you can beat Father Time.Premature assessment? Hardly. It will get progressively worse as the season goes on, and there will finally be no doubt that he really shoulda stayed retired. Warriors are 5-3, life is good. Troy Murphy was a steal at #14. |

What are you talking about???
Jon Barry? Detriot? is this the same Jon Barry that went 0-5 with Zero points in 25 min on 11/4??
The only thing Pierce took advantage of was during the 1st half scoring 12 pts when Jordan wasnt on him. 2nd half ,well , 2 pts with Jordan guarding Any other examples ![]() |

Well all I can say, is that it was Jordan's choice. He knew what was expected of him, and he knows what would be the consequence if he didn't play to the image he created for himself.
Jordan is scrutinized by everyone. Every game he plays, etc. etc. One thing that makes me wonder. I wonder how Doug Collins coaches a team with the greatest basketball player and a bunch of newbies ? He would need to coach in a different matter and the JORDANAIRES might feel different. you need to wonder if Jordan didn't play how good will the wizards be? COULD JORDAN BE SLOWING THE WIZARDS? Im not gonna yack on jordan. But I did see him play against the SIXERS and win. The sixers are 2-6 or so. I like the LAKERS against MAGICS or TORONTO. 3 peat 3 peat hehe.. Jamison is their franchise player. Last edited by Wind; 11-14-2001 at 01:27 PM. |

I think it was a poor decision for Jordan to return with such a sub par team. Even if he was better now than before , it wouldnt make much difference , the team just will not be there at the end.
what would have been better is to return to a team that has been close but couldnt pull it out , Utah? NY? Miami? boom Jordan shows up and wins them a title. I would imagine it must be or will shortly become extremely frustrating playing in that organization. |

I think its something that needs to fit michael.
I dont' think he'd like to play for UTAH after killing them in the finals of his last year as a bull. He wouldn't fit with the mailman and stockton hehe.. The pick and rolls. I do agree with Jordan shouldn't come back to ruin his image. But what he did is accepted by many hehe.. IF he was good, i think the wizards might actually get the 8th spot in the eastern conference hehhe.. He'd take over the team. Popeye Jones, Hamilton, Alexander, Whitney.. hehe |

Jordan looks like that old guy on the court who always wants to run with the kids. Too bad they took the Schick Legends Game out of All Star Weekend.
Hmmmm, just off the top of my head Trigger, I do recall Antione Walker talking sh-- to MJ at the end, I know you'd have seen it being from Boston and all. That woudn't have happened to MJ in his prime, unless your name is either Reggie Miller, John Starks, or Spike Lee....or for that matter, Robin Ficker for those who remember. If he's not getting schooled, explain 7-21 vs. NY and Philly? 5-26 vs. Seattle? 13-30 vs. GS and Atlanta? (well, bad example FG percentage-wise, but against GS...damn, his game that night wasn't fun to watch.) And when he does score, a nice chunk of it is from the charity stripe. I don't know the specifics of who scored/defended on who at what times for every game, but either someone's not shooting the ball well, or he's getting shut down, by individual or commitee. Oh yeah, the Jon Barry incident I was referring to was during preseason, also where I learned that MJ was being served by all the young cats (KG, TD smacking his shots into the stands, burned downcourt by Jalen Rose, unable to check Michael Finley), but since that was just offseason scrimmages, that doesn't really count, right? Hey, how you guys like Joe Johnson and Joe Forte? Trading deadline on Feb. 20, 2002 - MJ to the Bulls for Ron Mercer and the Mayor Fred Hoiberg ![]() We lost to Toronto tonight. Damn, I owe my buddy a pack of Marlboro Reds. Series swept. Jamison's slump continues, and Bobby Sura's J is gone. Keon Clark, at times, was impressive. Jahidi White=Washington's 2K1 version of John "Hot Plate" Williams for those that remember when they were the Bullets. Donyell Marshall, aka Ludacris |

Walker talking smac, hmmm, theres a new one.
Mr. attitude of the NBA. You don't know the specifics of who scored/defended on who at what times for every game; how bout just for the games that you referenced? oh preseason, now that explains where your logic is coming from. ![]() |

Hmmm, guess someone's a Jordan fan. Well, more power to you. Someone has to be, I suppose.
![]() Too bad I don't have Direct TV so I can watch each and every Washington game and record each individual defender in every moment of every game MJ destroys. Then I would be more prepared. Hope the cops don't find out. Have fun man.... ![]() |
