The Pacifist Movement Has Started!
There are demonstrators on college campuses and in Washington, DC calling for negotiations and aid packages for Afganistan. Anarchists decry globalism which has bred inequality and discontent.
Oprah is calling for aid, food and love for the oppressed people whose plight has bred terrorism. "Is war the only answer?" she asks. Jesse Jackson is still debating whether he can negotiate an apology from Mr. bin Laden for murdering 7000 people. I'm afraid that this is only the tip of the iceberg, that anti-war sentiments will flourish, especially in the face of a draft and weekly American body count. I don't think America can sustain the resolve and courage to fight these forces of true evil attacking you and me. What the protesters call "patience" and "negotiation" ultimately can be seen as cowardice, but it looks so much better cloaked in the gown of peace. |

Well, at least they're lucky enough to be demonstrating in a country that allows dissent. Maybe there should be a rule that they be required to go to Kabul and Kandahar and give equal time demonstrations of the exact opposite position against the Taliban. Talk about public whipping! When I lived in San Francisco I used to see all the usual protest marchers gathering in front of the Federal Building. They would sit around chatting and eating snacks waiting for the TV crews to arrive. Once the cameras were set up and ready, they would pick up all their signs and the show would begin. As soon as the TV cameras were turned off everybody went hope. Oprah is calling for aid, food and love for the oppressed people whose plight has bred terrorism. "Is war the only answer?" she asks. OK, aid, food and love for the oppressed innocent Afghani people is a worthwhile goal, along with liberating them from their oppressors: the psychopathic religious fanatics than call themselves the Taliban. War is not the only answer, but it is the appropriate answer. It must be carefully and precisely directly, but it must be overwhelming. Jesse Jackson is still debating whether he can negotiate an apology from Mr. bin Laden for murdering 7000 people. I thought Jesse said he was retiring from public life to look after his multiple family responsibilities. I'm afraid that this is only the tip of the iceberg, that anti-war sentiments will flourish, especially in the face of a draft and weekly American body count. There may be protests but they won't be anything like the Viet Nam protests. The mood of the country now is more like it was in the early 1940's than in the late '60's & early '70's. A democratic government will respond to the will of the people or it will fall. Our government responded to the will of the people in World War II and it eventually responded to the will of the people in the Viet Nam debacle. I don't think America can sustain the resolve and courage to fight these forces of true evil attacking you and me. I hope that you are wrong. Since I am much older than you, I believe that you are wrong. The only difference between us is that my experience extends back to Pearl Harbor. What the protesters call "patience" and "negotiation" ultimately can be seen as cowardice, but it looks so much better cloaked in the gown of peace. Yeah, they sure do like cloaks, don't they. They're pretty good at quick changes, too. Their march in Washington was originally planned as a WTO/IMF protest but they re-did the signs at the last minute and changed their focus. The only "patience" I'm in favor of is allowing enough time to plan our response properly. And the only "negotiation" I'm in favor of is in determining what sort of interim government the U.N. should set up in Afghanistan after we send the Taliban leaders to their just reward. And in conclusion, it is my opinion that Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein have got to go. Deeds, not words. Let justice be done. Ninong ![]() Facta, non verba. Fiat justitia. |

The National review has several updates on this calling it the Kumbaya Reports
see http://www.nationalreview.com/nr_com...nt091801.shtml Personally I was hoping Rev. Jackson would go to Afghanistan maybe the taliban would decide he is a missonary.

Just remember we are now in the bore or phoney war stage. Think of that old movie cliche, things are quiet ,yeah too quiet. I'm sure the caves being used for command posts are being mapped. I think back to a story told to me by an old UDT guy and african cichlid breeder. There was a japanese gun emplacement that was wiping out marines. The gun was controlled remotely and an armored door was lowered when the gun needed to be reloaded. Nothing seemed to knock it out, then a seabee said "Why don't we weld it shut?" So go hid in a cave so a laser guided weapon can close off the entrance.

I say we round up all of the anti-war demonstrators and pacifists, load them with Bibles and crosses and send them to Kabul for 24 hours. We then pick up whoever is still alive and see if they changed their minds...
It's a free country here... You are free to leave. Mark |

Hi All,
When asked at a recent press conference what is taking so long, the President replied: (In his typical folksy style) "When I take action I'm not going to fire a $2 million missile at a 10 dollar empty tent and hit a camel in the butt." This pretty much sums up my feelings on this issue. Regards, Scott Passe
