Taliban Threaten to Attack Allah
Officials of Afghanistan's ruling Taliban on Saturday threatened to attack Allah if he allowed U.S. forces to attack Afghanistan, Taliban-run radio reported.
According to Sheriat, the Taliban's state-run radio station, spiritual leader Mullah Omar Mohammed said: "Allah is great, and his will is supreme, but if he aids the infidel in this holy war, we will be forced to attack Allah in the name of Allah. We know that Allah always takes the side of his true believers, and that we are the only true believers. Therefore, if Allah chooses not to aid us, we will assume that Allah is going against the will of Allah and we will declare Jihad against him."
Asked for his reaction to this latest threat, British Prime Minister Tony Blair was quoted by Reuters as saying: "He's gone round the bend. You can't attack Allah, and certainly not in the name of Allah." In a quick retort to Blair's statement, the Taliban demanded evidence that you can't attack Allah.
