Nope. All it takes is one tiny bullet hole in the fuselage to cause decompression. If that happens, at best everyone would pass out until the pilots get the plane down to a lower altitude. At worst it would cause a chunk of the plane to rip off.Originally posted by saltjunkie

You might as well have a bomb go off. That's why special bullets are being developed for the Sky Marshals that will kill a person but will not damage the plane.

Saldy the outsome in that situation would still be better than what happened.
Then again, the whole premise is flawed as the airlines are a private company which have the right to, and regardless of legal intervention would, likely ban guns on the planes with or without FAA guidance.
