i am an alien, reporting my observations...........

there are two societies ,half way around this planet from each other that seem to be in conflict.........
one is very rich and powerful, and has the most advanced military technology ,hence the most powerful army.
one is very poor, and yet seems to have a majority of the "most important" resource on the planet.....
the very rich and powerful country keeps a good portion of its military stationed around and in these poor countries RICH in resources....
it seems that the powerful country might be oppressing the poor countries and fostering a situation where it can get this precious resource for basically what it wants to pay.......KEEPING THOSE IN POWER WHO "WILL PLAY THE GAME" AND ELIMINATING,OR KEEPING THEM IN CHECK WITH THE THREAT OF ELIMINATING, THOSE THAT DO NOT.

Saudi Arabia is not very poor by a country mile. In fact, on a per capita basis, they are very rich... as is Kuwait.

the very rich and powerful country keeps a good portion of its military stationed around and in these poor countries RICH in resources...

We have an extremely small portion of our military stationed in Saudi Arabia to protect what we perceive as our vital interests. It doesn't take alien intelligence to figure out that one.

it seems that the powerful country might be oppressing the poor countries and fostering a situation where it can get this precious resource for basically what it wants to pay...

We would like to pay $10 a barrel, unfortunately OPEC has more control over the price of oil than we do and we are fortunate that our good friends in Saudi Arabia are willing to see to it that it stays somewhere close to $25 a barrel. If we had any control at all we would not have allowed them to cut production by a million barrels a day this week to prop up the price.

....KEEPING THOSE IN POWER WHO "WILL PLAY THE GAME" AND ELIMINATING,OR KEEPING THEM IN CHECK WITH THE THREAT OF ELIMINATING, THOSE THAT DO NOT.

We are merely lending a helping hand to our friends, the despotic royal families of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, to help them in repelling any invasion from Saddam Hussein. It is up to the royal families themselves to see to it that their own populations' needs are adequately met, lest they follow in the footsteps of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. All governments, whether domocracies or corrupt monarchies, are dependent on the satisfaction of the people for their survival in power. Democratic governments lose the next election. Monarchies lose their heads. Even totalitarian regimes fall eventually; it just takes longer to get rid of somebody like Saddam Hussein from within.

oh yeah ,and as far as a good portion of our military is concerned,i think we can safely include isreal(with all those american weapons) with our everpresent aircraft carriers
imo, just one guy with a bat pacing in the street in front of my house, watching me,is threatening.

What is the point of your alien observation? Is it criticism of the foreign policy of the United States in the Middle East? Certainly it cannot be the startling revelation that our relationship with Saudi Arabia revolves around oil.

well,i guess you could call it critisism ,i call it reality.
im not saying we should leave the middle east,im just being realistic about why we are there.
its life, its human nature ,its just the way it is,has been ,and the way it will be..............
there will always be an opressor, there will always be an opressed.
and i would say that nine times out of ten(hell ill say all the time)the two groups will be from different racial/religous/whatever groups.
i know that the whole middle east situation is very complex, and there are many things that you and i dont know.......

the point of my "alien observation"?
just an un-biased view of what i see on the surface...........
i used an alien, because i am biased, and if having a military presence in the middle east is what it takes so that my nephews can eat at mcdonalds every weekend,so be it.
man, what was i smoking when i posted it anyway

Hey organicreefer:

There is a natural substance made from carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and other organic elements called HALDOL which I think would be just the ticket for those days when the occasional flights of ideas and paranoia threaten to take over your brain.

Do you by any chance have any small transmitters implanted in your head? Microphones in the electric outlets? Cameras behind the mirrors in your house?
