Dissatisfied Reefland Customer..

Well I bought a dual overflow from Scott here at Reefland's Online store somewhere back around January-March Pretty much my only specifications where that it be quiet and be able to handle a minimum of 1200gph as per I planned on a running a Mag 1200. I had originally planed on purchasing a lifereef as per there awesome quality and my previous good expierence with them. I decided to give Scott(Reefland) a chance since they were just starting out and everyone's sump's seemed to be of a fairly high quality.. I ordered my overflow and eventually recieved it and installed it. From the get go the overflow was extremally noisy no matter how much I adjusted i adjusted as per their instructions everytime.I never posted any threads or told anyone of any hint as to my problems I was expierencing(sp?) with my overflow. Now this wasn't even the biggest problem. The biggest problem was that the overflow would flow worth crap.. My single lifereff overflow box I used to have flowed probably 50% more than this one.. I needed this thing to be able to handle 1200gph, it wouldn't even handle 500max. I couldn't even turn it up halfway. My plumbing system on my setup is very unrestrictive also so I could be able to achieve maximum circulation. So anyways I've had several problems they've sent me several replacement parts over the months. I think 2 or 3 different sets of standpipes trying to eliminate the noisiness of the overflow. It's in the front room and was soo damned annoying. Well the last set of standpipes finally made it alittle quieter. After I ended up changing the design my self because they were too short..
Now the problem is I emailed them on July 29, 2001 telling them and Scott specifically is who I emailed of what I needed. the front overflow box(I was on my second one already the first one couldn't even handle half throttle of the mag1200 had split..and the water was running over the top and causing the tank to rise extremally high and once even causing an overflow. this happened with the original design and caused a powerstrip to catch on fire.. I was out of town luckily someone was home and caught it fast enough not to cause to much damage other to my stand and I lost a powerstrip but i was out of towna dn the tank had no power to it or circulation whatsoever for at least 12 hours..
Scott emailed me back on July 30, th telling me he send me out one by the end of the week. Well basically 2.5 months later I have still yet to see the box. My tank has been without a sump for 2.5 months no with no protein skimmer running or anythign just powerheads an a heater and lots of LR and LS for filtering.. Scott and I have been in contact several time each time telling me either it had been sent out or oh it will be out soon..
The last email he returned was back around the first week of September I have emailed him and I believe burch at the store..Still no response no overflow box. So IMO, I won't be purchasing anythign from them again. Sorry I had to post this here Scott I've nevr said anythign negative about reefland. I've tried to keep this all private but if this is what it takes to get a response out of you guys and get some reactive and closure to my problem with your customer service then i guess this is what i have to do..
All in all I wish I would've bought a lifereef..
Scott or anyone else from Reefland's Store if you could please email me that would be great.. Sorry about my spelling I was typing fast..Dan

I had a simliar experience with a live sand order, I think my thread is still around here somewhere. I wouldnt suggest ordering thru them to anyone. However Rick did refund my money after Scott's promises of payment fell thru. In my opinon I was flamed here when I shared my experience and I wouldnt be suprised if the same happens to you, but I hope not! Anyways I would email Rick because he was very polite, proffessional, and FAST ! Rick@Reefland.com....Hope this helps, and sorry to hear about your experience !

Actually the only reason I commented on Aqua's post (and what he thinks that I was flaming him), was that everyday he posting that he didn't get his money... every bloody day...

I do not think it is boring... this is an issue that has to be delt with, and it will. Sounding like a broken record, this is also another problem I had no knowledge of until now, and as I type, I have worked out what we are doing, and discussing why it was not handled better.

Rick thanks for emails.. things seem to be rolling again with Reefland..Thanks Rick i really appreciate it.

Mark, Yeha I hear that I hated to do this especially with all the time I've spent here reading and leaning and trying to help educate other(not recently though I lurk lately been really busy). I did do this as a last resort never posted any prob's decided to go the other route but it seems things are wroking out for the better now. Hopefully I can get my sump back up and runnign soon and get my protein skimmer I know my tank is in desperate need of it.. Its gonna be time to get my In sump refugium going again after I get everything up to par..
Dan
