Computer Won't Recognize CoolPix 990
Has anyone ever had trouble installing the Nikon View 3.1 software which comes with the CoolPix 990? When I upgraded to Windows XP, I lost the ability to upload photos from my digital camera to the computer on the USB line.
I've uninstalled the drivers and software, reinstalled everything, no luck. I've gone through and manually cleaned out the registry and the files, and reinstalled, again no luck. When I try to connect to the camera, I always get a message that there is a previous version of the driver in memory (Code 38.) I cannot find any files anywhere to indicate the driver is still on the computer. Any ideas? (I did order a Smart Card reader from Amazon which will upload photos from the card just like an external drive.) |

I don't know anything about XP. I did have problems setting up my USB port for my 990 on Win98. I ended up removing and reinstalling my USB port (software) and then I reinstalled my drivers all over again. Also, I could only get the first USB port to take the drivers. The other port never would.
