Metallurgy and the Industrial Revolution

OK. I'm calling on all you metallurgists out there w/ a little request. I'm helping my boy w/ a project. This project focuses on metallurgy and how it helped the Industrial Revolution. I know about Carnegie and such, but anybody got any additional info, links, suggested reading? Thanks.

Remember that British documentary series "Connections," hosted by James Burke, that ran on PBS about 20 years ago? He managed to connect virtually everything to the Industrial Revolution. You could probably run a video library check on your nearest Cal State institution. They probably have the complete series in their library available for free check out. You would have to run a topic check first to see if there is anything in there interesting.

Or you can just run a search through Encarta to see if they have anything worthwhile written up.

Later,

Ninong

P.S. -- So are you gonna stand in line outside waiting to see LOTR?

Thanks Ninong. BTW, I LOVED "Connections"!! That was one of my favorite PBS programs(Nova and Planet Earth were the others). As for standing in line...well I went to the theater today to buy the tickets and was told that they're sold out for today. So I purchased 6 tickets for the 7:30 show tomorrow night. The theater is "smack dab" in the center of a casino(I hate that!!) so we'll be inside if it snows. We got quite a bit overnight though.
