Unhappy It sucks to be a Gator....

Steve Spurrier has resigned as the head coach for the Florida Gators.

*sigh*

It's going to be a tough couple of years. I hope we can find a good replacement.

I'm a BAMA fan, welcome to the wonderful world of trying to replace an irreplaceable coach. If you guys have fewer than 3 coahces in the next ten years, I'll be surprised.

I was very shocked by his resignation, I thought he'd be there forever, become a fixture, like Bowden at FSU or something.

Thumbs up

It's a great day to be a Gator\Buc fan!!

Stoops is coming back!!!! I can feel it!!!!!

The football\ pipeline legacy that can be created here is incredible...come play for UF for 3-4 years, get in your car...drive the hour and a half to Tampa and play for the Big Guy...

I'm thrilled at the prospects!

Talking

Rumor has it that Stoops is wrestling with the descision. $2.5 - $3.1 million/yr is hard to pass up.

SOHG,

...don't sweat it. He passed on the deal.

I don't think the number 2 pick is going to pan out either...

Now I'm wondering if Spurrier is going to Carolina?!?

Hmmm... I guess Seifert will be able to buy another fishing boat with the buyout money on his contract. What a way to screw up a perfectly good lifetime record. Maybe his record had something to do with the team he inherited from Walsh?

Why? Nice football weather, don't have to play in the snow, don't have to study hard to pass, in fact, don't have to study hard to get in either.

What about the Stanford coach going to Notre Dame? I can't figure that one out for the life of me. Why would anyone want to leave Stanford??? Who cares about the money difference! Why would you leave a low pressure situation in an ideal location with ideal year round climate for a high pressure spot like Notre Dame in snow country? The only thing you have to worry about at Stanford is the stupid band getting in the way before the end of the game.

My poor Niners now have to go to that miserable Lambeau Field to play Favre's gang. Maybe history will be made... who knows. All depends on which Jeff Garcia shows up. I can't believe they screwed up so badly in Dallas and then came back and stomped my redneck brother-in-law's Saints 38-0 in the Superdome!!! How sweet! My bro-in-law says the Saints were saving themselves for next year and didn't want to take any unnecessary chances. Yeah, right!

Later,

Ninong

Ninong,
So true on the easy admissions. Not to mention all the crooked free bee's the players and their familys get there. Do you think that maybe the nice weather all year has anything to do with all the Florida teams being good year after year?

No, I think it has more to do with their "recruiting" practices and their admission "standards" more than the weather. But the weather is certainly an attraction for prospective recruits. Add that to all the other attractions and it's a wonder they're both not Numero Uno and Numero Dos year after year.

With all due respect....
You guys have no idea what you are you talking about in regards to "easy admission" at UF.
You have the school confused with FSU...

It may have been easy in the past, but I assure you they are quite choosy these days.

More of our athletes can read than ever before!
Some are able to SIGN THEIR NAMES BY THEMSELVES on draft day!

Yes...we invented freebies and hard recruiting.
Once again you confuse us with FSU.

Enjoying the coach we trained for you?

Your new coach is Ron Zook, the Saints' Defensive Coordinator.

I'm a little surprised at the choice. But I guess if we can't have Stoops or Shanahan, we should get someone who had a taste of the Gator's success during the last 12 years and understands the expectations.

Now let's hope that the Gators don't loose too many people to the NFL. Looks like it could be Rex, Lito, Jabar, Taylor, and maybe a couple more.

Zook will do fine.

The NFL exodus is going to be pretty significant I'm afraid...

Cool

By the way...

Wayne Weaver (owner of the Jags) is a full blown moron.
He didn't have to hire Spurrier...but his recent repeated embracement of Tom Coughlin is the worst case of denial I have ever witnessed.

Stay tuned for more Jaguar TV blackouts next season North Florida...the stands are going to be empty at Alltel Stadium.

Good luck gators. Bio is right though, there is nothing harder than replacing a great coach.
