STB Velocity Drivers

Hey,
Need some help from you computer dudes and dudets.

I am pc'ing together a system for my son. I have a old STB Velocity 128 AGP g-card I am in need of a driver for. Apparanlty STB was purchased by 3dfx which is know out of business. I cant seem to find any drivers for this card.

Know of any drivers that will work?

Please link if so.

I saw it not too far back...not there any more though.

Hey this was on my old celery OC'd machine. Its not but maybe 2years old and still is a great card for a 6 year old.

I hope FK doesnt turn me in,

I had that, that, that "video card" on my gateway. Never realized how much it sucked till I built my new system over the holidays and my wife decided she wanted to keep the gateway, which, she has now decided sucks and wants a new one.

Drop the STB and get a new one. You don't have to get the top of the line, even a GeForce 2 Titanium will do wonders - mine cost $150.

Your son will thank you, you will thank you and your neighbors will thank you.

My 6 year old doesnt know the diffrence.

Why would I want to put 150 into a old out of date computer made from scrap and old parts?

My son thinks its the best thing he owns.

well i guess i should have asked first what processor are you putting in?

if its all oldie, than go with the STB.....problem is finding the drivers. There are other video cards out there under $100...Since I use my computer mainly for gaming I wanted a decent video card (work? whats that..lol)

I would say that as long as your making a computer, you might be better off in the long run (note: less frustration) to use more current parts than to macguyver something together with old technology.

problem with the older stuff is that it does not always work well with newer technology, such as video cards.

but thats my thought.....

Computer is running fine.

overclocked celeron 300a on a abit M-board. 96 mb ram, 4 g hdd, 40x cd and a yam sound card, Win 98b.

I bet I could keep up with a lot of the newer models

Don't let them make you feel bad. A lot of people enjoy leisure suits, aviator glasses and mood rings, etc. Nostalgia for old outdated things is kind of cool.

Like I said for my 6yo son the machine is great. It runs every game I have thrown on it and runs flawless. If I gave him any more at that age its just wasting my money. Anyway its a machine I built several years ago to overclock the processor. Still overclocked and never missed a beat.

My personal machines are 1gigs

1 is a T-bird, 256ram, 12g hdd, Nvidia TNT2 mod 64 (I built myself)

The other is a PIII 1gig, 512mb, gloria II, 20g hdd.
Dell with the VC upgrade by myself. This runs engineering graphics programs, which is why there is a high dollar VC

I asked ARS if they are safe and they said yes, no problems there.
