Blue Planet

Watched "Blue Planet" last night. The concensus here in our household was that it was very well done. The cinematography was outstanding. Anyone else have thoughts on the documentary?

I watched it also... all of the ocean one, and part of the arctic seas... I thought the arctic seas was more interesting from what I saw. I can't wait for the rest of the series in (May?).

Aragorn & Justler,

I watched it too. I really liked it. Both parts were really well done, but I too particularly enjoyed the Arctic/Antarctic Seas part. It was amazing to see the amount of marine mammal life that gets trapped within sea ice for months at a time, relying on relatively small breathing holes. Never really thought about that before. Never imagined that a polar bear could bring down a full-grown beluga either. It was really interesting to see the different types of polar sea life (being not as well documented due to remoteness).

In the other segment, the pod of killer whales attacking the gray whale mother and calf was brutally realistic.

Looking forward to part 2 tonight.

I'm really looking forward to tonight's episode...Examining creatures of the open ocean, where the environment is austere and extreme. Animals include halfmoon fish, sunfish, loggerhead turtles, sardines, yellowtails and triggerfish. Narrated by David Attenborough. Also the second episode: Examining marine life of the abyss, where extreme cold and pressure have shaped bizarre and grotesque creatures such as the deep-sea angler fish and the gulper eel. Also: bioluminescent fish. Narrated by David Attenborough.

I heard in the commercials that the series was going to actually finish up in march or may, can't remember.
