organic she is doing much better, thanks for asking. The only problem she is really right now is that she does not run like she used (which, is not all that bad of a problem..lol)..

She seems herself otherwise, matter of fact she chewed on my wallet yesterday and found some dollar bills....grrrrr...

I take her back in 4 weeks to get her blood work checked again...

So far so good!!!

Unhappy

Just wanted to update on Sadies situation.

I took her in last week for her monthly bloodwork and the vet decided to compare the tests of the previous 4 months.. . Her platelets have consistently gone down, from 286 in March to 125 for June.

The vet also feels that since she has not really responded yet to the treatment, she will be on meds for life.

As a result, I have had to make that painfull decision of putting her down. Thursday morning I'll be taking her in...

Rest in peace sadie...

Just got back and read all the threads. Just wanted to say how sorry I am over your loss. I had to put down my dog a few years ago and your post brought all that back-- along with some of the happier times I had with her. You did all you could.

I'm so sorry to hear that she wasn't beating whatever it was. My condolences on losing a loved family member.

Sorry to hear about the loss. I will have to do the same soon, with my female Siberian Husky.
She was my bday present for my wife (she really wanted that puppy), when we started to date 10 years ago.
The male husky will be heartbroken too, because she was like a mother to him.

I picked up the local paper and on the front page of the local section was a big write up on Canine ehrlichiosis. If this disease doesn't fit with the symptons that Sadie had nothing does.
I know you said they checked for tick related diseases but this one had two local vets stumped for nine months on a dog in the area.
So anyone out there with dogs- this one should be checked out.

thanks everyone...its been real hard to do pretty much anything else since putting her down....including come back to this board.

One thing I've learned is to never think that you can do tomorrow what can or should be done today. Oh how I wish I could take her for one more trip upnorth or one more walk around town.

I plan on adopting once my divorce (yea, great timing) an older golden, like 2 or 3 years old..

Rest in peace Sadie..mom and dad miss ya!

An Update...

for those that remember, a few years ago I had to make this tough decision. But I am happy to announce that I have adopted a 5 year old Golden named Sam. pictures to follow.

Sadly though, my brother lost his Spinone to the pretty much the same disease last may. I ask you all to please use heartworm medication with caution. Titer tests are a big thing now and I have to believe that it was heartworm pills that killed Sadie and Rizzo (brothers dog)

Happy new year to all. Its been a long time, Ive gotten divorced and life is sooo much better!
