I e-mailed him about a week ago at both his home and his office but I have not yet received a reply. He does go out of the country on frequent business trips so maybe he is just away right now.

I heard from Joaco today. The country is a mess and things are really, really bad down there. His friend Andrew did not leave for Germany as originally planned. Andrew and his bodyguard were held up again and a gunfight broke out. Andrew killed one of the bad guys 14 times (that was the way Joaco put it) but one of the other bad guys shot Andrew in the upper left arm before Andrew's bodyguard managed to shoot him just below the eye and kill him. Final result: Two dead bad guys and Andrew with a gunshot wound to his upper left arm. Joaco was actually supposed to be with them at that time but other things came up to change his plans. It is impossible to tell for sure if they are going after Andrew because they know who he is or if they are simply going after his BMW.

The new baby girl is doing fine but other than that, things are not very good down there and he cannot bring himself to post to the boards for the time being.

That thread link still begs the question, what does Andrew do?

(By the way folks, keep in mind that the cost of living down there is soo much less than here, they are probably paying body guards the rough equivelant of Minimum Wage)

Well, Andrew has a nice 3-series BMW that cost him more than US$60,000 down there. So whatever he does, he must do very well. The company pays for the bodyguard. I believe his family owns the company.

He is not in the CIA or anything like that in spite of all the jokes we crack about that. Andrew has been attacked at least four times now (shot twice) and it is not clear if these are kidnapping attempts or simple carjackings. His BMW is a target in a country as lawless as Argentina is right now.

WOW! I thought BMW's were cheaper everywhere else except here..(Of course in a country W/ a failing economy, one of the things that has inevitably been done is raising import tariffs). if it was a 3, it may have been built here. I digress,b But I think w/ the given situation I would have asked, no, make that begged for anytype of relocation out of that country. I can't believe he's been shot twice and hasn't left. I hope they both do well through all of this.

Hi guys! thanks so much for the words, I will pass them on to Joaco.
J asked me to show up and give you some updates. I would also like to comment on some of the posts. If you bare with me, I will keep you informed, I just need the time to type, because both my arms are not working as I would expect them too. I can scratch my nose and type, but still with some pain. Not only I got shot in the left arm, but damn Joaco broke my right arm!! More abou that later. I was an accident, at least that's what J says

Gives me the chills, I hate that. The guy almost took the full clip because he was still moving with the gun in his hand. I tell you this guys eat spinach like Popeye or are so high that they don't feel a damn thing, and have no fear. I guess that gives them the balls, but not the brain.

I was waiting for J to join us for lunch, he had to pee so he saved some bullets -and maybe his a$$-
I don't have the BMW anymore, got rid of it after the first heldup.
They DID want the car: MF get out of the car and give me the F'ing keys!
I had to shoot because I was sitting on my gun, if I just got out of the car the guy would have seen it and shot me. So I had to shoot first -started right through the door-

Cutest girl I have ever seen. When she turns 18 I will marry her! hehe, J always gets pissed when I tell him that

Thanks Fishkid, my knees are still shaking. J says that I was lucky abou this thing happening before lunch and not after it, or the guy would also be covered with my vomit.
J can be gross sometimes, he was telling me that in the ambulance. He also told me the other guy made it and that he gave him my address. Not very funny....

Sorry, but you are partially wrong.
Till last year -before Argie devaluated its peso, by 135% till today- Buenos Aires was considered one of the 10 most expensive cities in the world.
Argie is a different world in many ways, it's very different to the rest of south america in many ways, and so similar in others.

About my bodyguard. This one a former police commando, he resigned because of the low pay by the State. I pay him 7 -seven- times what a marshal makes here. Almost a soldier of fortune but he carried a badge.

Sold it, too flashy. Right now a high profile means high exposure. High exposure is bad, it can kill you here at this time.

Thank you
I now pay for the bodyguard from my own pocket. The company I worked for closed and moved back to Europe. Family business, but not my family's, or I wouldn't be working at all

One was kidnapp attemp -ransom-, the last one was for the car -not a BMW-
You are so right about Argie being lawless. For example they just changed legislation, you can shoot an attacker even when he left -so you can wait that he leaves and then shoot him in the back, legally!- and you can shoot him if he is unarmed but you THINK he was armed. I find it damn pathetic!!
Oh, but you get a fine if you use ammo other than regular lead round tips. If you shoot with hollow tips or that kind of nasty ammo, you have to pay a fine, no joking.

BTW I'm officially a financial advisor. I'm not involved into anything illegal, and yes, some people hate me, a lot.
Not for the bad advice of course, LOL

Joaco says one of my old girlfriends put a price on my head, and that for just $100 that's the best she can hire

As said before, Argie is not a just a "country like that". Yes it stinks in many ways -at least now- but it's still far from the rest of south america. Correction: WAS. And it will get worse, trust me on that.

Here I made over 100k a year. Here I'm not rich rich rich. Not even rich. As said before, Argie was a VERY expensive country.

You are so right. It didn't use to be that way here, Argie was one of the few south american countries with a big middle class. Right now, it looks like this:

total population: 37 million
rich: I would guesstimate 100.000
poor -can afford to eat below 1.200 calories a day-: 14 million

people DIE from hunger now, in a country that exports food!!

unemployment rate: officially 23% -I would say 26% by now and rising-

inflation during the past 12 years: average 1% per year, some years with deflation.
now: January 2.3%, February 3.3% (BIG LIE from the State, should be at LEAST 7%)

country in default, biggest foreign debt default in history, about 155 billion -Russia defaulted with about 40 billion-

government literally BEGGING for help from the IMF, they wont see a buck.

5 Presidents over a period of just 9 days.

2 cops die per day in shootings. Average was 4 per YEAR.

Banking system collapsed. All accounts with over $10 K are frozen, you will see you $ back in at least 3 years. That's what they promised, or you can have a bond...from a bankrupt country.

I will post some pics so you see how it looks like today. Like a real mess that is.
