I say its a power head. Can someone please tell me what the difference is? Yesterday I called a LFS for a price quote on one. I spoke to a lady who works there. That I can't stand in the first place casue she has one of those "I know everything" attitudes. Anyway she answers the phone and I asked her if she had a Rio 1400 PH. She shot back really quick with "Excuse me a water pump?" Anyway it kinda pissed me off. Like she was saying you idiot its a pump not a PH.Thats all. I just needed to vent. Thanks guys!

I think the terms are somewhat interchangeable. The way I see it, a powerhead is a specialized type of (i.e. submersible) water pump. JMO
No matter what, the phone attitude is uncalled for. Good way to lose customers.

Hmmm, I use them as powerheads. Shoot I use the 3100's I have as powerheads as well. It does say pump on the box though(I think). BUT, if you're money's green, and if you didn't just print it up today, what difference does it really make to her what you call it?
If I were her you could call it an unmanned oceanic water propulsion unit for all I care as long as the register still went CHA CHING ![]()
