University Suspends Sex Class
Student: Final Project Involved Visit To Strip Club

BERKELEY, Calif. -- Officials at the University of California, Berkeley, have halted a male sexuality class amid some lurid allegations.

One student told the campus newspaper that classmates went to a strip club for their final project and watched a student instructor have sex on stage.

Another told the Sacramento Bee newspaper that some took Polaroid pictures of their genitals at a party held to introduce students.

The course was run by students and sponsored by the university but the the school didn't fund it.

A similar female sexuality class is being reviewed.

A university Web site described the male sexuality class as one "intended to provide a safe environment in which men may learn about their own bodies and male sexuality.''

Well, it has been awhile since I was a student at Berkeley, but this program, called D-cal, has very little to do with the university, and certainly nothing to do with their official course offerings. These classes are run by students as an "alternative." If this is what consenting adults want to do with their free time, who cares? Sure, the university name shouldn't be associated with it, but the content isn't particularly novel...
