I'd very much like to do this as a career--what should I major in in college?

what else is required other than series7?

I don't know about all schools, but the college (Southwest Missouri State University) that I went to had a finance major within the college of Business administration. That would be your best option.

Just about all brokers/analysts I have asked majored in economics. That is essential to the trade, so its makes sense. My broker (from Morgan Stanley Dean Witter) got his masters in economic sciences (or something like that), and minored in political science.
