My sons' first concert

Geez,

Well, he's 16 and pretty responsible, yet I can't help but be nervous. His first concert is this Friday night in Sacramento(90 miles away). He's going with a friend(nice kid) and his 20yr old sister. I just remember what I used to do at these concerts when I was 16(surprised I made it to 42! ). I've told him that I'm concerned and if anything happens to call me for any reason and I'll be there in a heartbeat. How soon they grow up...

Who's he going to see?

Hey Dave, as long as he doesn't get arrested for under age drinking, then I am sure everything will be fine. j/k of course.

Sounds like he's been raised responsible enough to handle it. I'm sure the worst part of the trip will be him telling you over and over again how great it was the next day.

Thanks Perry,

I sure hope I raised him right. I know he's no saint. For that matter neither was I when I was that age. I've tried to instill into him the importance of responsibility, ownership, and...discretion. Anyway, I'm probably just being a concerned DAD. So, who's he goin' to see? He's going to see Andre Nickatina at the Colonial theater. I'll be losing sleep that night.

Well at least I don't need to be concerned over him getting caught up in a Mosh Pit, right?

Biomanjcs72,
I had no idea who this was either. I check it out and he is a rapper. From the looks of the cover of one of his CD's "Hell's Kitchen [EXPLICIT LYRICS]" that he is one of the Master P crew. I am sure it will be interesting though.

Well everything went fine. I was up when he got home(studying for my CCNA Exam-Certified Cisco Network Associate) and we talked a bit. He had a good time.

Oh yeah.

I remember my 1st concert...vaguely. The Kinks at the San Jose Civic Auditorium in 1975. The parts I do remember were excellent! And then there was the Rick Derringer/Foghat/Sammy Hager concert at the Cow Palce in San Francisco. GEEZ! I could swear that Rick Derringer "materialized" out of thin air on stage...I refrain from mentioning any substances that may have assisted the "percieved" phenomenon.

I can totally relate to the materiallizing out of thin air part... i was crashed on my friends couch, just sittin there and eatting cheeze-its, i was starin at my hands when poof there were cheeze its in em (at the time i was baffled) then my friend thought he was funny and ran downstairs and scared the crap out of me, the cheeze its flew everywhere

I too... uh... refrain... um... mentioning... ah... substance... uh... percieved.. hm... phenomenon

Im sure he will be ok, but im not sure that he wont do something he is not supposed to.....We all did! At least most of us (even though we wont admit to it) This is kinda funny though Aragorn cuz my mother and father took me and my brothers to a Styx/Kiss concert and I was only 13 y/o (Me being the youngest) I remember some ppl smoking funny cigarettes but cant remember much after that It was a rockin concert though...hehe Nonetheless from everything I know about you is that you are a GREAT role model bud!

Thanks Rocky,

In fact Christian called me after the concert to tell me that they're on their way home. That's what I call "responsible". Again, I don't expect him to be a "saint"...just to practice good judgement and discretion. Looks like he has been listening to his "ole' man" after all.

He's a great young man and I tell him that all the time. He's even beginning to find some "direction" regarding "post" High School(Navy, Underwater Welding). I'm proud of him.
