How much to ask for used 90 Gallon Reef setup?
How much should I ask for my used setup I am gonna sell it to someone I know more than likely..
It's a 90 gallon glass tank. custom stand and hood setup for metal halides, 300lbs of diverse live sand 120-150 lbs of 100% coraline encrusted rock, Brand new 1200gph reefland overflow, custom made 25 gallon sump/refugium, mag 1200, pfo 2x96w p.c.'s. I won't be getting out of salt water I still have a 25 gallon reef/anenome tank. and will probably setup my 46 bowfront as a F.O. I just need to make some room and I don't have time for two reefs.. Just curious what to ask for it?

You might want to sell the individual components on ebay. I've gotten good prices on my used equipment, and if it's good stuff, it will fetch top dollar.
Otherwise, you could calculate the total amount you've spent on the setup so far, and charge a fraction of the total. |

need more specifics to give a good estimate
first off, what kind of tank are we talking, and does it have any scratches?whats the condition of the stand?how tall is the stand?everything works good? of course you can probly get more if you part out...and probly alot more on ebay, but if youre like me ,thats just way too much hassle. especially if you already have a buyer that you know wants it. ill start the bidding(with the info i have ) at $550 more info and ill try again ![]() |

thanks guys sorry for being so vague.
AGA tank no scratches currently reef-Been up for Little over a year.. Combined a few tanks into the 90 Custom made stand- Stand dimensions 33"H x 54"L x 22"W with both sides opening up and the entire face can even be removed two doors also on the front 17"W x 21"H Canopy(setup for MH's) 13"H x 50"L x 19" W Two front doors for easy cleaning/feeding access Entire top lifted and locks back. Everything is stained Oak.. Stand is in great condition could use another coat of stain since it will surely get scratched moving it.. 5 power heads(maxijet and aquaclear) 25 gallon Tru Vu acrylic tank made into sump with 3 compartments for refugium, bulkheads etc.. 1200 gph Reefland Overflow(dual bulkhead outlets) PVC returns with ball valves on each one to adjust pressure. Probably keep or trade in the Livestock.. I don't want to part it out cus I have a good friend that is interested in it so I also want to not rip them off and give them a good deal.. Iam keeping the 2x250mh's since I run one of them on my 25gallon reef. The 2x96 watt PFO's p.c.'s are going witht he tank though.. Everything works great. the PFO's ballast is about 2 years old.. Bulbs need to be replaced..

Keep in mine the value of the live rock and live sand. At the minimum I would sell the rock at $1.50 a pound. More if it is good quality. I would charge around $.75 a pound for the sand. A decent rule of thumb on used tanks is about $1 a gallon, and $1-2 a gallon on the stand (the stand price seems a little high, but that is what I was recommended to sell mine for). I'm not sure on the other equipment because I don't know what the original prices were or the exact condition, but I would not ask more than half the original price unless it is still almost new.
I may be way off, but organicreefer's bid seems a little low. If all else fails, ask what you are comfortable asking. I wouldn't want anyone to feel they got ripped off either. If you feel bad about your asking price, you may be asking too much. I have never sold any equipment before, so take this with a grain of salt.Good luck, Andrew
