Slightly Stoopid
Bob Marley Unwritten Law (first couple albums at least) Op Ivy NoFX RAGE BB King Stevie Ray Vaughn Descendents Half Pint Sublime (of course) Elvis Dick Dale Beach Boys Just to name a few.... I could go on forever. Music being a major motivating part of my life, I have a ton of favorites, of many genres. Not a huge fan of country aside from Garth, The Man in Black (my name is Sue, how do you do?) , and John Denver. I have a huge problem with "pop" trends because they are all generally driven by the media and large record labels. The youth of the country and world for that ,atter are pretty much told what is cool, and they listen to it. MTV should be outlawed. There are few big bands today that have any originality, and most of them having the same sound/formula. Among those most needing to be tossed to the null and beyond are Creed, Godsmack (sorry fishkid, but they are a talentless gimmick), any group that has choreographed dancing, any group that wears leather, any group that calls themself punk but signs to a big label. |

Mikeman has the best list so Far.
I would Add: Grateful Dead Led Zeppelin Everything any of these new bands: LImp Bizkit, Creed, Linkin Park, etc (including Nirvana from Mikeman's list). do you can find in one Led Zep song or another. THey laid all of the ground work, paved the road, etc. Everyone else since has been following. Period. ![]()

I'm opening myself to an a**-kicking, but i don't understand the bad rap against Creed.
All they do is make music which millions of people buy and enjoy. They sell out concerts in 6 hours. They don't tell anyone else how to make music, unlike that fat, ink-stained bas*ard Fred Durst. What's the problem? Same thing with Green Day. Would everyone be happier if they all stayed in their garages and played for the neighbohood kids the rest of their lives? |

Quote:
Now the problem I have with GreenDay is that they signed to a big label, and went mainstream. Now thats not really a problem, but coming from the east bay punk scene, the constantly preached against it, and made a name for themselves by cry out against mainstream music. True punk can not and will never be mainstream. it defies the meaning. Real punk bands will live underground, and defy the mainstream "pop" mentality. Fugazi is a great example of that. All the potential, but will happily wave a middle finger in the face of a 5 million dollar Warner Bros record deal. THAT is punk. Greenday sacrificed all thier artistic integrity for money...that = sellout, and not punk at all. If a band doesn't claim to be against large labels or mainstream to begin with, I have no problem with it (riding the $ train to 'success'). Blink 182, Papa Roach, especially limp bizkit, among many others have sold out. Another thing that radically irritates me is this whole techno junkie fad. People popping pills and listening to redundant electronic noise.... where is the feeling and artistry in that? The 70's were an awesome era for music. -Perry |

if someone offered you a $5 million deal to fart into a microphone would you care if people called you a sellout?

You got a point there, but do you want to be known as "the guy who farts into the microphone"??????
