But why in the world do you want a center to shoot 3's? A Center means being in the center which is being in the middle which mean being in the paint. What use is a center to break down defenses when he's launching 3s when you have far better shooters from the guard position who can shoot 3s. You need tall players to rebound the offensive misses too.
I don't recall Tractor Traylor, Bryant Reeves, Ostertag, or Todd McCullough dominanting either the paint or the 3's. They have enough weight and size to bully themselves in the paint. That's right, they have no athleticism.
WOuld you prefer Tim Duncan to shoot 3's rather than take the bankshot?
Did you see Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell, Olajuwon shooting 3's? If the easiest points to get a bucket is a dunk then why not? It's within the confines of the NBA rule. I don't see the NBA rule that says one cannot dunk.

And furthermore, you are saying that VLade can shoot the 3? He hits a career 23% from the 3 point line and 28% in this years playoffs. Would you rather have him take the 3 or Bibby?

Are you going to judge a player by his one weakness which is FTs when he basically dominates both offensive and defensively better than anyone in the modern basketball today?

If Barkley weren't allowed to use his strength, then he wouldn't be anything spectacular. If Magic Johnson wasn't 6'9" he couldn't back down defenders or pass over their heads.
If God give you the size and talent, then why not use that to your ability. Jordan shouldn't be underappreciated if God didn't give him a 45 inch vertical or made him 6'7".
Should Jabbar be penalized just because if he didn't have that skyhook so nobody can stop him, he shouldn't be great.
Please add some facts to your comment when you say Vlade can shoot the 3s which he is one of the worst 3 point shooters for centers. 7 footers that could shoot the 3's were Sabonis, Wang ZhiZhi.
So are you going to say Wilt was a bad player because he could only dunk and shoot within a 5 foot range? I am sure that 100 point game was all a fluke.

The reason why Dattack is getting so angry is because talking to you is like talking to a wall..how can you even say or compare Kobe to Jordan? How many years did it take for Jordan to perform at his peak? Kobe is twice as good as jordan was at the same age..You cant compare a performace of a 62 chevy and one of a 00 chevy can you?

If you think shaq doesnt have skill then you got one closed mined attitude...have you seen other big guys play? .

I understand all of the points tha Dattack AKA dick Vitale put forth, (and I was aware of them before he pointed them out, I generally refrain from making uninformed opinions, unlike some people would make on the nature and scope of my intellect.) I just don't agree that what he said makes Shaq (or Kobe)the best player to ever play the game, it's all a matter of opinion.

When MJ was 23 he didn't have a great post or off guards to help him like Kobe does, only when MJ got pippin and other role players did the bulls get good, wait 3 years when shag has retired and Kobe is on his own, then we start comparing him to MJ if he still wins.

All I can say is that, you can't compare things with generation gaps. I believe that every generation will be better than the previous one. What KOBE has done so far and what MJ has done are two different things. Different type of stars emerged differently in different generations. I didn't watch the older STARS like CHamberlin hehe.. But all I can say is that newer stuffs will always be better than old stuffs based on many factors. (evolutions haha)

I rooted for the Lakers and enjoyed watching them. The key to winning is DOMINATING and doing what you are best at. In this case, it is SHAQ dominating inside and KOBE doing the slashings and lauching the Js.

If SHAQ retires and KOBE is on his own, it will be interesting to watch, but you don't win CHAMPIONSHIPS with just one player. Role players are just as important as Star players. I also don't think that in Jordan's era there were other players who lead their team like the stars now (t-mac, a.i. etc.) I didn't remember MJ much from childhood . Maybe I'll get flammed from this haha..


All I'm trying to say is that, I am happy for the LAKERS, and I didn't read all the posts. I scanned through them and just wanted to post what I thought. I hope the LAKERS draft other players to help them improve even more.
