Hand feedings of sharks banned in Florida

I think this is a good ban....cuz there have been ALOT of ppl who think they know everything about sharks and apparently they didnt know that sharks mistake body parts as food too if you entice them. Anyone else hear about this new ban?

You mean you won't learn everything there is to know about handling sharks by watching the Discovery channel? They aren't suggesting that TV had led us astray again, are they?

I haven't heard of the ban, but I'm surprised it was legal before. But, I guess it's good to see them put some common sense laws into effect to keep the general public from loosing too many limbs.

HAven't heard about it, but it makes sense. THere's this comedian who said that "Accidents is natures way of culling out the stupid." (he was kind or a redneck comedian)

SO, maybe, if you're too stupid to realilze that if you're not a Marine Biologist who studies sharks, you shouldn't be trying to hand feed them, maybe we should just let you?

(Just like the signs on Jet hatches that say "DO not open during flight". THat means, that sometime in the past, someone has looked at his wife, and said "I'll be back in a minute, hon, I'm gonna get some fresh air.") James Gregory is the comedian who said the above, I give credit.

THey are making laws to protect stupid people from themselves

I remember reading an article several months back that explained why they were having this problem and why they felt it was necessary to enact legislation to prohibit hand feeding of sharks. The proposed legislation was hotly contested by the dozens of diving tour operators that evidently have been doing a booming business charging people to dive with guides that would hand feed sharks.

The argument against this practice was that it was not only unnatural but might also contribute to an increase in shark attacks on divers and swimmers once the sharks were habituated to associating people with lunch.

I always associated these tours with feeding Doritos to bears anyway.

True enough, it makes sense to limit it commercially, even ban it, those guys need to find their own food.
