Oh my G......
You know you really have trouble letting go if you have to have your loved ones remains made into jewelry. Are you wearing Grandma today? But you know some people will do it.

THat's beyond morbid, that's just gross. THe next thing that'll happen is off of DUNE; we'll be dehydrating dead folks for their water content.

Icky, Icky--

While making a sagittal cut through the head of our cadaver in med school, we dislodge a large piece of gold dental bridgework. We asked our TA what to do with it, and she didn't know. (Of course, I'm not sure she understood the question, as few of our TA's spoke English.)

One of my dissection partners was married to a jeweler, who took the piece and made 4 gold nugget pendants, one for each of us.

My wife wears the pendant on a gold chain. It's a nice reminder of the miserable years in training.

Years before I became a nurse I was a veterinary assistant. One dog had surgery for kidney stones. These stones were beautiful, looked like some sort of carved rock artwork. Three triangular shaped stones fit together to form one really neat triangular piece. Sort of like a puzzle. I brought them home and kept them in one of those thingies with the glass display dome. Eventually my mom threw it away cause she thought it was gross.

Gems made out of corpse carbon is quite a conversational piece, but I personally wouldn't attach emotional signifigance to the items. But it is a creative marketing idea.
