Bad experience from Saltwater fish.com
I ordered ten "medium" sized Peppermint Shrimp from Saltwater.com. The package arrived this morning and the Peppermint Shrimp's were Juvenile's, not even "small". Of course, since they were so tiny my Tang in my QT considered them to be prey. All dead!
I also ordered three Cleaner Shrimp and two of them were DOA. The water was cloudy and smelled like heck, so I flushed them down the toliet and notified Saltwaterfish.com of my bad experience. They said "sorry" our warranty states that I must return the dead Shrimp and give them a sample of my tank water. All at my expense of course. To me this is an insult! They are essentially calling me a liar even though I notified them immediately. So now I have one cleaner Shrimp that i paid $92.00 for. This Shrimp must have belonged to President Bush. So, I would use extreme caution when ordering from them. There are many online retailers that were pleasant experiences. In fact, this was my first DOA's I have ever had. They packed the Shrimp in a plastic bag with twi ice pals wrapped with newspaper. Then they used the styrofoam container. When i opened the styrofoam container,, the box felt cool to the touch. In fact the water temp. of the new/dead Shrimp was much cooler than my aquarium which is maintained at 77F. I can only imagine how could it got in the container when it left their facility. It was obvious to me because the two dead shrimp had been dead for so long they were already smelling badly even in the cold temperatures. This is the first and last time I will use them. has anyone else had an experience with them either good or bad? I'd be interested to know. |

I have only had good experences with them(only 2 orders thou). And all the online retailers I've ever heard of want the dead ones returned to get a credit. It only cost a couple dollars to send dead animals UPS ground or USPS regular mail there not going to be any more dead if it takes a week to get there. Good Luck with your future purchases and keep in mind they all run into those problems sometimes that's why they all have customer service depts.

I admit that they have me on the return of the dead fish. Frankly, this is the first time I ever had a DOA and order everything online. So, I never really had to pay too much attention to it
However, the Peppermint Shrimp was entirely unacceptable. Like I said, their website called them medium size. I wish you could have seen how small these shrimps were. I knew they would be eaten either in my QT(Tang in there now) or my reeftank. So, anyway you look at it, it was terrible customer service and terrible product delivery. |
