This is not exactly a board but it is a freshwater website: http://www.thekrib.com/
Also, Robert Fenner has a Freshwater Section, too: http://www.wetwebmedia.com/
We're thinking of setting up a 35 gal hex freshwater tank and getting a FW puffer. Trouble is, we know diddly-squat about FW other than cory cats and guppies. Do any of you know of a nice freshwater board that will help keep our trial with less error?![]()

yeah I know the name sounds funny but I used to go to this one on a regular basis back in the day. You can find a lot of helpful people there.

Thanks guys. All three sites are now bookmarked and very helpful.

Hmmmmm what to put here???
I'd think carefully before making the plunge to freshwater. You have to worry about things like not having salt in the water, and multi-cellular plant life. It could get ugly. I've seen people spend well over $2 on some types of freshwater fish too. Personally I don't need that kind of stress. Just stick a couple moorish idols in that 35 and relax.![]()
Thanks, Bill. I know you're absolutely right, as usual. But this hobby is like some insidius disease. My eleven six inch goldfish in the pond were feeders at $0.12/each. I paid $1.98 for my placostomus, and $5 each for 3 koi (they all died). Since koi can cost in the thousands and I don't think they're all that pretty, I decided not to go there.
Right now my lack of money is going to keep my fresh water tank in the planning stages for a long time. But when the time comes, I'll be able to make it just as complicated and expensive as my saltwater tanks.![]()

Hi there folks, new here!![]()
I'm actually coming from the freshwater side myself... I'm hoping to set up a SW tank in the next 5 months. Actually converting my 150 into a FOWLR.
Well, the two boards that I frequent daily are
www.oscarfish.com
And quite possibly my favorite message board is:
www.desertaquaria.com
Check them out, great spots.
I just happened to set up a quick website of mine, not designed at all, but you can learn some things about me and my tanks...

Welcome to Reefland!
I hope you find our community enjoyable and make us one of your daily stops.

Hello OscarBeast!![]()
thanks for the welcome...
Man OB, you and I keep running into eachother on boards... hehe. Great to see a familiar face.. okay... name.
Well, so far, I've visited this site daily.. and am enjoying it very much. Once I get a SW tank going, I'm sure I'll enjoy it even more!
Wow... I totally overlooked what you said at the beginning there bughead, about you wanting fw puffers...
I am a Puffer Fanatic. They are some of the BEST aquatic creatures to have. All of mine are very personable, and once you get one you will want more!
If need any help with puffers I'll gladly help... there is only one book in existence dealing with freshwater and brackish puffers it's "Aqualog's Freshwater and Brackish pufferfish" by Dr. Eberts.
Another phenomenal group to join is on Egroups.com, there pufferfish board.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pufferfish/
It's a mailing list (or that is how I choose to use it) there are the best puffer people on the planet posting there. We help everyone with puffer problems, questions, and just share stories picks and news about puffers.
You will not be unhappy if you get a FW puffer, I have loved all of mine!!
Wow, Magnus, how cool! The info you gave is exactly what I was looking for. I'm going to get the book and I will most likely be getting back with you on puffer questions.
Our plan of a 35 gal has swollen to a 50-ish gal tank. One as big as possible for the only available space left for an aquarium left in the house. But this is still awhile down the road. But one cannot do too much planning and research.
Thanks again![]()

I'm glad I could be of service!!
Nice to see that I can offer some help to this board. I will have to pick your brain in a little bit when I get my SW tank set up.
Enjoy the puffers!
