$150 mp3 player just crapped out

anyone know what i could do to fix this?... my mp3 player no longer turns on, you hit power, the LCD lights up, thats it, no readable text, or other activity. i thought it was a connection problem with the power source, but i did a little open heart surgery and nothings wrong that i can see.

i only had it for 2 to 3 weeks, never been dropped, but somehow the warranty got thrown out (paper shredder actually).

dont ya just love electronics?

Smack it.

First level of troubleshooting almost anything...
WWFD
which stands for "What would Fonzie do."

Did you buy it with a credit card?

Ahhh...your quoting my favorite actor\security guard!!

Credit Card purchases can have more weight when talking about refunds and warranties.

Some retailers don't even require any paper when returning a credit card procured item. They generally lose everytime they kick up a fuss.
Best Buys is a great example of this trend.

Get the statement next week...take it in...get new product.
Or make them do the research off your cc #.

Did you really, really smack it?
With feeling.

A lot of people think hitting doesn't solve problems.
I know otherwise.

I agree with schrocat here. Smack it around a little more. You have probably voided any warranty you had by taking it apart. I do computer hardware support for about 60 people. My first attempt at solving their computer problems involves dropping their computer from about 2 feet up. It works more often than you would think.
