OMG Prices start at $4000 for a custom 50 gal tank?
Status? What status? My friends just think I'm nuts.

Talking

How about this excerpt:

"...basic maintenance costs run about $100 a visit. Most custom aquariums require at least two visits a month. However, Hauser recently installed an 8,000-gallon, $1 million reef tank that needs three visits a week at an annual cost of $90,000."

And that's in a private home!

Someone once posted on another board that they had seen pics of Michael Jordan's aquariums somewhere and that they were spectacular but I have never been able to find pics of his tanks.

$4000 for a 50 gallon, that's not too far off the mark.

THink about it. Lighting, drilled tank cost, pumps, sump, plumbing, sand, livestock, etc. that's not too far off for a 50 gallon. (aso. if you add in installation fees, mark up, etc.)

At least Michael Jordan has arms long enough to reach the sub-terranian algae growth on the front glass.
