OH MY! Im gonna be a grandpa

My daughter is pregnant and gonna have TWINS She is only 7 weeks along and we knew she was pregnant but we just found out today that she is having twins. The sonagram shows both of the babys/eggs developing and they arent real close together does that mean that they will be fraternal twins? Thats what I have heard.....anything I can put into her drink to make them identical? Anyway we are stoked!

Hey Rocky!

I have twin girls who are 16 now and they aren't identical, but no one can tell them apart except my immediate family. My girls are what you call mirror twins, ones left handed and ones right handed, its supposed to be like looking in the mirror. You have alot of exciting times ahead.

Congrats! and good luck

Very interesting but you lost me They arent identical but no one can tell them apart? They are considered fraternal twins? I have never heard of mirror twins, is there a different terminology for that? How much did they weigh and where you earlier than the expected date, if so by how much? The twins are expected to be born on August 24th and my B-day is Aug. 17th so there is a good chance they could be born on my B-day What a gift! Thanx Michelle

Hey Rocky!

There isn't a whole lot of information about mirror twins.
What are mirror-image twins?
Identical twins can be different in one fascinating way--they may exhibit mirror-image features or behavior. For example, they may have opposite hair whorls or opposite dominant hands … even mirror-image fingerprints. A definitive explanation for mirror-imaging isn't known, but some researchers believe it is related to the timing of the splitting of the fertilized egg. Up to 25% of identical twins exhibit some kind of mirror-imaging.

I'm glad that you know early on that she is having twins, I didn't find out until 4 days before I had them. They were due Oct. 12th and weren't born until Nov. 11th. They finally gave me an ultrasound because I was so over due. Whitney weighed 5lbs. 21/2 oz. and was 18 inches long and Britney weighed 5lbs. 2 1/4 oz. and was 181/2 inches long. It was a total shock to all us of. They have truly been an enjoyment in life and I'm sure yours will too.
