I got an 8 inch scope for christmas and a CCD camera, converted a bathroom to a darkrom and got another minolta sLR camera. I have been photographing the moon and willl be doing planets and galaxies soon. Mars is closer to earth this year then it has been like 5-10 thousand years so it will be nothing short of spectacular may through september!!

Hi Mike!
I'm glad to see you back; yet sorry to hear about your tank.
![]() Please do post some pictures, it sounds like you got your own down-sized version of Hubble. ![]() |

Sorry for the size!! This is a shot at prime focus on an F10 Schmidt -cassagrain with a minolta x-700 35 mm SLR (no camera lens). I used standard black and white Kodak TMAX 100 speed film for this. My wife developed the negatives and we printed this in our dark room. It has not been enhanced in photosop for contrast. Just negative to paper. This is one of my first shots done last weekend toward the full moon phase. Soon I will be doing color images of nebula and galaxies.

I will post some of the planets and things soon. I am waiting on a GPS tracking device to assist with tracking celestial objects and an equatorial wedge ( late presents from my inlaws from SANTA) I hope to post some color slide prints of the sun when I get them back. We cant process slide film yet.

It just occured to me that the moon is an appropriate theme here since she has influence over the oceans tide.

You think if I print that picture and put it in a frame over my tank I might get some spawning events to occur?
