    Angry Sad story..

I woke this morning to discover my 150gallon saltwater tank leaking from the bottom seams. Mostly due to drastic temp changes and humidity in my home is what I was told to be the cause. First issue being the tank needs to be resealed. Second issue is i have two awesome eels that are now being moved to a friends house for a temporary home. I'm heartbroken by this as I loved my tank, but cannot afford to buy a new one or have the repairs done. Plus, I don't trust myself to do the repairs. One leak is bad enough.

So a question for all you folk in reefland...

1)Does anyone happen to know of any person/business that would be willing to purchase my tank. I was told the silicone seal on the bottom would just need to be repaired. Its a 150 gallon oceanic with 2 overflows. Would come with a sump, eheim filter system, wood stand, rocks and lighting.

2)The eels are going to need a new home. They are both 2.5-3 feet long. One is a mexican dragon eel and the other is a comet. They are best buddies as well.

i would appreciate any help i can get!

    Thanks!

    Re: Sad story..

    Mike,

I am so sorry to hear of your problem with the seal. My heart actually jumped a bit when I first read it. I live in Elgin, in an 80 year old building (which is good - much stronger construction was done back then), on the third floor, with a 92 gallon corner tank.

I have had a few "mishaps" with water, but never due to the tank failing in anyway.

So, here it is a month later. How did it all turn out?

You know, the scariest thing for us mortals (imho) is fear of the unknown. Resealing a seam on a tank, besides all of the work involved with preparation (such as COMPLETELY breaking the tank down to its absolute bare essential), is really quite easy. You would be surprised.

I would gladly offer advice. And I am also curious what you might be selling. But my recommendation, based on your apparent love for the tank, is to learn to repair bad seals! The aquarium grade silicon in one of those big tubes one places in a caulk gun was about $14.99 last time I looked locally here in Chicagoland.
