The Ranco Temperature Controllers-Stability and Savings

Many of you may have heard of the Ranco Temperature Controllers.
They are very popular among Reefers for use with Chillers and heaters and are one of the most affordable controllers sold. They help to provide temperature stability which is very important in a reef tank.
The Ranco is a programmable temperature controller that turns items on and off based on the temperatures you program into it. A Single controller can control either heating or cooling functions, and a dual controller can control heating, cooling, or both.
The Ranco brand controller is a respected well known item in the HVAC industry. They are high quality, very dependable and accurate, industrial controllers. Many Reefers use them to control their heaters to avoid an all too common heater malfunction in which the heater is "stuck on" and overheats the tank. The Ranco Controller turns the power to the heaters on and off as needed bypassing the heaters internal control. I personally use them to control the cooling fans on my tanks. If the temperature rises above my set point the fans turn on-just long enough to cool the tank down to the set value and then turns them back off. This keeps the fans from cooling
the tank down too much, and keeps electrical use to a minimum. With a dual Ranco you can avoid running both the heaters and fans or chiller at the same
time-wasting electricity.
www.diyreef.com sells the "bare" controller, which you would wire yourself if you are handy, or a fully wired and sealed controller. The wired and sealed controller has a power cord for power to the controller, and 2 power cords that you plug your heaters chillers, or fans into. All controllers come with a temperature probe, and the wired and sealed controller probe has been sealed and is submersible.
The wired and sealed Ranco Controllers are ready to use-just plug in the controller, Plug the items you want to control into the controllers outlets, and easily program your desired temps.
