    DIY Salt Mix

Anyone ever done it? Approaches and/or recipes would be appreciated. Mortons salt is only like 6bux a bag (i think its 50lbs) and Aquatic Eco has the additives you add to it. With all the hoopla about the salts/metals etc I think its definately an option to consider.

    Rocky,
    Never done it.
I seems like there was a discussion awhile back(years) on compuserves
fishnet. If i remember right, there were 2 problems.
the cost of mixing small batches
how to mix the batches equally.

    salt mix formula

I have formula that was used to make large batches of salt. (thousands of gallons) It would probably cost more to make small batches than to buy IO or other premixed brands.

I have to look up % but here is the overall formula
    Major salts
    (gal x 3.785l/gal x diff (g/l)) divided by 454g/lb= total lbs
multiply the percentage of each salt by the total pounds of salt to get lbs of each salt needed
    Minor and trace salts
    gal x 3.7851l/gal x difference (g/l)= total grams
multiply the % of each salt by the total grams to get grams of each salt needed
