Question Adding Sump

Whats the best way to add a sump to a 55g glass tank. Equipment includes HOT Remora skimmer w/ Mag 5 pump, canister filter returning on a seaswirl, and powerheads.

Is it even possible? What additional equipment would I need? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If the tank is not drilled then a hang-on overflow box is the the best way. I have a CPR brand I have been using for 5 years or so on my 90 gal. I have it running down to a 23 gal Rubbermaid tub. You could use a Mag 7 pump to return the water back up to the tank via the Sea Swirl.

Regards,
Kevin

I agree with a hang-on overflow. The only downside with one is the increased space you need with the back side of the aquarium and your wall. So if your tank is already filled and there isnt enough space in teh back....you might have problems.

I also have used a CPR hangon on an 80 gallon about a year and half ago and with no problems. I used an Iwaki for a return pump back to the main tank.

Thanks guys, the CPR sounds perfect. Do you have any idea what kind of room you need behind the tank. The tank is filled already so I may have a problem. Also I was looking at the CR1511 that has a 300gph flowrate, would my canister which is 350gph be able to work with that box? Which needs to be the higher flowrate. Thanks again.
