Need input on DIY protein skimmer idea?

This is for all the DIY guru's. I am thinking about making a beckett style protein skimmer for my 15g nano. I want to scale down the skimmer a bit, instead of using 4 1/2 O.D. I was thinking of using 3 1/4 O.D. for the chamber and the base footprint being 4.25 x 8. Do you think this could work? Please let me hear your respones or ideas that could help me.
Thanks,
UnderWaterWorld

Hi UWW

Beckett skimmers are mainly for larger tanks and need LOTS of flow through them to be effecient. I personally think a beckett would be overkill on such a small tank. You might want to check into Picolo skimmers or building something more simplistic. JMO HTH

Maybe a copy of a bakpak would be better, still a little large but not like a beckett.

ya Becketts move over a THOUSAND GALLONS PER HOUR on a 15 gallon tank that would be impossible... I would do a small counter current or DIY venturi...
